Survivor Series 2012 review

It is time for the Thanksgiving tradition, remember when Survivor Series was just that and was on Thanksgiving night.  Anyway here we are for the 26th annual Series.

Michael Cole just say it is the Thanksgiving Week tradition, good enough!  We are opening up with a "Bonus" elimination match.  Every match should be an elimination match damn it!  Anyway it is about to get Funky because here comes Brodus Clay is coming out.  He gets his full entrance and I like to see some dancing from his two friends!  Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd along with Sin Cara and Rey Misterio are one team.  They are taking on Titus O'NeilDarren YoungPrimoEpico and Tensai.  It appears that Cody Rhodes will be able to go since Tensai is who was being reported to be taking his spot if Cody couldn't go.  Rosa Mendes looks great as always!  If you aren't familiar with the Survivor Series matches they are elimination matches and they keep going until one team has been eliminated.  Wow we are 11 minutes in and already three references to Jerry Lawler being dead and having a heart attack, always funny.  Wow Sin Cara ran up the ropes and stood on the top rope for several seconds and didn't screw it up!  He is looking good.  Lawler just called Primo by his brothers name Carlito.  That is silly because Carlito didn't make it onto pay per views!  They did a pretty cool spot where the Masked Duo held the ropes and Justin and Tyson flew through the ropes.  Brodus just botched his suplex on Tensai and a few seconds later Tensai eliminated Brodus with a senton.  First Ryback screws up his finisher and now Brodus, maybe it is Tensai and not the others.  So Brodus can't kick out of the senton but Justin can, he then dodges a second and hit a crucifix for the elimination.  Wow they buried Brodus BIG TIME!  I have a feeling Brodus could be future endeavored any time now.  Lawler just brought up the Gobbledy Gooker!  Titus is rolled up by Kidd and is eliminated.  The three biggest guys eliminated first.  Doesn't make sense!  There were actually some fans barking at Titus, they might be getting over some.  Kidd with the Sharpshooter and goodbye Epico.  They are really putting over Kidd here.  JBL, Cole and King are not a great team thus far.  Kidd is really being put over, but will most likely be forgotten tomorrow.  Rey and Cara are wearing the half masks and that is cool and wearing matching style trunks like a real team.  Goodnight Primo.  The heels are getting buried big time and what does it say when Brodus is the only face eliminated.  Wow Cara just hit an Swanton, followed by a Justin moonsault, a Kidd springboard elbow and a flying splash by Misterio for the elimination.  Why have Brodus lose, I don't know.

Wow a K-Mart WWE commercial in the middle of a PPV.  Not like I didn't just spend $50 bucks on this show!

Kaitlyn is on the way tot he ring and is attacked by the blonde from a few months ago.  A wig is pulled off and it is Aksana.  Eve Torres asks innocent saying she doesn't want anything to happen before their match and Kaitlyn shoves her down saying the same thing.  An interesting idea and Kaitlyn is almonst in street clothes strangely.  I like Kaitlyn but she isn't ready for the champions.  Wow JBL just said that because it is Thanksgiving you've got to bring a head of hair out.  Eve is almost acting like Madison Rayne in TNA with the beauty pageant wave and what not.  I am not looking forward to this match.  Kaitlyn needs more ring work but I like her because she works hard.  Eve does as well but they need some new diva blood.  I just noticed both girls have their hands and wrists taped up.  Strange to see...although Kaitlyn might be wearing gloves.  The commentary has been bad and I miss Jim Ross!  Eve just used the ring skirt to trip Kaitlyn and hit the Roll of the Dice for the win.  Kaitlyn actually looked REALLY good here, may be her best match thus far.  Time for new blood and to make it about wrestling again but what do I know.

From the pre-show we see Team Dolph Ziggler and Team Mick Foley arguing.  It appears that Cody Rhodes will not be competing and that David Otunga will be filling in.  Really?  Was the Brooklyn Brawler not available?  What about Gillberg?  Whatever they will probably have him survive knowing the booking lately.

Time for another match I don't care about as Antonio Cesaro takes on R-Truth.  Antonio talks about what does the US have to be thankful for.  Nice to know that Vince wants to be old school with the foreign born heels but can't book an old school heel champion in CM Punk.  I just don't care about either one of these guys sadly.  Both are extremely talented but the feud has meant nothing.  I will say that the show has been paced well and I'm actually surprised to see nearly an hour has gone by.  Antonio won with his finisher in a match that probably went about 3 minutes too long.

I just saw a camera man on WWE TV, very rare.  Good grief they are doing a David Otunga fake lawyer promo for the TLC PPV next month.  WOW!  They are talking about The Rock facing the winner of the WWE Title match at Royal Rumble and we go to a recap of the stupid ass AJ Lee storyline.  I refuse to recap this BS!  It is a damn PPV!  They are actually going to do more of this angle on the show?  STOP THE PAIN!  Atleast AJ is amazing to look at.  God damn it the fans are chanting what.  They should kick each and ever one of those fans out the arena!  Seriously this is as bad as when  Scott Steiner debuted in an angle.  Now AJ Is showing a bunch of doctored photos of Vicki Guerrero. This is horrible, just horrible.  I will say that AJ is really good in this segment.  I hate to say it but she is.  She has been the most improved performed this year in my opinion.  Damn Tamina Snuka just destroyed AJ from behind and then with a Superfly Splash.  There is the new blood in the diva's division I was talking about.

Now we have a DVD commercial.  Really.  Josh Matthews interviews Paul Heyman, he is one of the best promo guys ever!  Seriously I hate the crowd watching the screen shot.  ENOUGH OF IT!  Also why does that bug me so much?

Next up Sheamus taking on The Big Show for the title.  I like these two, a smash mouth brawl.  I have to wonder if we'll see William Regal in some form tonight.  Show, when motivated, is good in the ring and the Ginger Demon as I call him is really better than I would have thought when he debuted years ago on ECW.  I wish they were showing the effects of the parking lot brawl from Smackdown but such is life in the WWE Universe.  This is another good match between these two.  I think/hope they have Show in and go one more match at TLC and have Sheamus win the title there.  Get some replay buys off it.  Yes it is a throw away PPV but maybe get a few buys of the title change.  OH MY LORD Sheamus just gave Show the Electric Chair, an amazing feat!  Sheamus now has hit White Noise on Show.  Amazing strength by Sheamus and it says something about Show doing this as well.  Good night as Sheamus just hit Scott Armstrong, the Hard Body Ref himself, with the Brogue Kick after Show pulled him in the way.  The doctor came in a little to quickly for my taste.  WMD from Show and a second ref with the three count.  Show retains folks and hopefully they'll go into TLC like I suggested!  Wait, the second ref and a third ref are talking now and apparently they are going to DQ Show but that doesn't matter as the title remains on Show.  Show is pissed and someone is getting knocked out I think.  Sheamus with a chair and is wearing out Show and Show is actually begging!  Obviously this is to set up a third match at TLC.  This is more violent then we see usually with the WWE and the fans are chanting one more time and the ginger is going after Show's leg.  I really like this ramped up intensity.  Sheamus wants Show to beg and he is.  Sheamus throws the chair away and hits the Brogue Kick but he isn't going to go home with a title.  A really good match and I love the angle afterwards!

We get a Rollings Stone PPV commercial, because Vince McMahon is promoting it, and a Vortex commercial which Saturday Morning Slam is on.  Really?  REALLY!

It is now time for Alberto Del RioDamien SandowDolph Ziggler, David Otunga and Wade Barrett to take on Randy OrtonKaneDaniel Bryan, Kofi Kingston and Miz.  I hope Wade is a survivor but I see Miz and Orton surviving and I bet Daniel is the first man eliminated.  I still can't believe that Otunga is in this match!  Sandow just tired to walk out but Kane threw him back him and a chokeslam later he is allowed to leave as he has been eliminated.  Team Hell No are now going at it.  This allowed Ziggler to hit the Zig Zag for the elimination and good night Kane, kind of shocking!  I'd love for Bryan to survive this but I doubt it and he is probably going to get eliminated by Otunga, and and as I type that Otunga taps out to the Yes Lock.  Thank god for that.  The fans just aren't into Kofi and I don't know why but it doesn't matter as Barrett hits the Winds of Change followed by the newly renamed Bullhammer Elbow for the win.  We have yet to see the Miz in this match and refused to tag.  Well Bryan won't be surviving as Alberto got his Crossarm Breaker for the tap out and Miz is finally in the match.  This match hasn't been as good as I thought it would be and I'm not sure why.  It hasn't been bad by any stretch of the imagination but seems to be stuck in first gear.  Wow Lawler just did the old Jose A and Jose B joke.  WOW!  Michael Cole just miscalled the Waste Land and my prediction of Barrett surviving is wrong as Miz pinned him.  Wow Miz is gone after a stiff enziguri in the corner.  Could they actually give Dolph a win?  I doubt it as they have talked about Randy Orton's career being made in these matches several times in the last few weeks.  Dolph and Alberto both need the win here so I'm hoping even if it isn't the way I'd have gone.  Foley just hit Ricardo and pulls out Mr. Socko.  Did you know I was there when Socko debuted AND for his first birthday party?  Well I was in East Lansing Michigan.  Ziggler just dropkicked Alberto and Orton hits an RKO and Alberto ONCE AGAIN loses to Orton.  I just thought Ziggler was going to win after countering the RKO and hitting the Zig Zag!  Great false finisher, these two are on top of their game.  Orton is bleeding from the mouth and gives him a demented look.  Its just a little blood and Randy is setting up for the punt, which we haven't seen for months but Ziggler countered witha superkick and actually won!  ZIGGLER WINS ZIGGLER WINS ZIGGLER WINS!  This is bigger than Barry Horowitz winning!

Now we get a WWE Films commercial for The Day.  Seriously a little silly here Vinnie Mac, you already got our money!  I just fast forwarded through some touts because I don't care!

Punk doesn't come out last?  Why is that?  I think Ryback is where a Nexus arm band.  Wait it is the same but an R instead of an N.  Thus far it has been two on one against Punk.  Is it just me or does Ryback look quite a bit like Steve Austin.  Dueling Lets Go Cena, Cena Sucks chants.  Punk really is the best in the world, he is making these guys look like a million dollars.  YES!  Another heart attack reference.  Punk and Cena teaming together to suplex Ryback through the announce table, really cool!  The crowd is really into this match, all three guys are getting chants and it has been damn good.  Heyman is great on the outside as Ryback hits Shellshock in the ring but Cena made the save.  A trio of guys just attacked Ryback.  I think it is Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, from NXT, and Cole just confirmed it.  They just powerbombed Ryback through a table.  Heyman's facial expressions are amazing and Punk wins.  An interesting debut for those three, you could tell Seth because of his goofy haircut.  I barely recognized Dean until after the power bomb spot.  Punk has a year long title reign and that is it for the Survivor Series.  Until tomorrow night, Abyssinia!
