2020-09-18 ROH review

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenver it is you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-09-26, I am checking out the latest episode of Ring of Honor from the 19th of September 2020.  I have not followed ROH regularly for a while but I know they are starting their Pure Title tournament to get back to new TV.  So with that let us go to the tape!

  • I already like the new intro talking about what the company was founded on, wrestling
  • How old is Quinn?  16?
  • Is Todd Sinclair going to have a heart attack?
  • Delirious is wrestling huh?
  • Why do people like Sydel so much?  I do not get it
  • David looks nothing like his dad
  • I wonder if this match will get me to be a fan of Rocky because I have never been one of his
  • Well I hate Rocky's intro music
  • I like the rope break count, the timer on the screen as it gives it a real sport feel
  • Why did Finlay hit the suplex instead of his finisher Trash Panda?
  • Coleman is surprisingly good on commentary
  • That slice break counter was a little sloppy
  • 15-minute time limit, interesting
  • I missed the stats in the first match.  I like that
  • Are Sydal and Dolph Ziggler related?
  • Todd Sinclair needs a better haircut good grief it is almost distracting!
  • Why would the guy who leapfrogged run to the ropes?  That does not make sense
  • Delirious shoulders were not on the mat, did Todd's fat or hair get in his eyes?
That was a very good wrestling show.  A little slow because it is just wrestling with no real gaga so it is odd.  However, having been a few hours waiting and thinking to write this part, it is a really good show!  If I had more time I would go watch last weeks show but time is not always on my side!

Classic Wrestling Review: 1994-01-29 USWA

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you found this entry.  Today, 2020-03-28, I am checking out the last USWA of January 1994, the 29th.  As I have said before I am not really knowledgeable of Memphis wrestling or the USWA but anytime I can hear Lawler talk it is winning so enough of my talking and let us get to his!
  • PG-13, the Lawler/Christopher Team, the Gilberts...yeah this is good stuff!
  • Uggg, Triple B is just bad, luckily he did not talk during this interview
  • Anthony looks quite a bit like an Armstrong facially....
  • I love how the fans were always into the faces and not the "smart" fans that we hear now aways.  They would be chanting fight forever not Go Mike Go.  I hate modern fans
  • Is Kevin Christian also one of King's sons?
  • Todd Morton has the worst ring gear, I am just going go wear a leather duster because dusters are cool.  This is not Always Sunny Todd!
  • Is it weird these guys are as tall as JC Ice?
  • I wonder if it is hard to wrestle in those full body suits, they cannot breath
  • Yeah I would use the Hubcap not the briefcase unless it has bricks in it
  • Obviously setting up a strap match or country whipping match
  • What is up with those trunks Eddie?
  • How great was Eddie Gilbert?  It is sad how forgotten he is
  • We need more ether angles in wrestling!
  • Vine went up like a bag of wet cement
  • That was an ugly combo
  • Todd Morton looks like a weird bizzaro Chris Jericho
  • Belt on a pole match, I was not too far off on the PG-13 angle
  • Reggie B. Fine was entertaining for sure!
  • what does brian have on his trunks?  Kiss off?  Not really a babyface phrase
  • That is a brainbuster or ghostbuster as Koko used to call it, not a powerbomb there Cory Macklin!
  • Wow Bert was large and in charge
Another fun USWA show.  Yes you have the Lawlers and Gilberts all over the place but they were the draws so why not.  However everyone on the show looks good and the matches are a good lengthy.  Nothing too long and it was all about getting you to go to their live shows.  I miss territory wrestling the more I watch USWA or SMW from this time period!  Overall a fun show and worth checking out for the Gilbert and Lawler promos alone!

Movie Review: Antebellum

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-09-19, I watched the new flick Antebellum.  From the producers of Us and Get out.  It stars Janelle MonĂ¡e, Eric Lange and Jena Malone.  "Successful author Veronica Henley finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality and must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it's too late."

There will be no play by play tonight as I just sat and watched this confusing flick.  As this flick is wrapping up I am typing this review.  This flick is rather confusing but mostly well done.  I cannot fault the actors as they were great in it.  Especially the stars.

However, it ended up being very confusing and convoluted.

From here on out expect spoilers for the flick.  The flick appears to be taking place in Civil War days when suddenly the star suddenly wakes up in bed in modern times so I am thinking it is time travel or scrying or something like that.  Then other people from the Civil War days start to show up and I think it is timelines crashing together or something like that.  Then the star is kidnapped and wakes back up in the Civil War times so I completely confused till the Civil War General goes out and answers a cell phone.  Then I am thinking it is an alternative timeline colliding.  Nope, nothing like that.  Just a bunch of white folks who kidnapped a bunch of black folks and hide in a Civil War reenactment camp that I guess no one goes to but these white folks.  Yeah.  They hid basically in plain sight with a bunch of kidnapped black slaves where they killed people and no one knew.  Yep.

I saw someone say something like too long for too little story and it is true.  If this was an episode of Twilight Zone it would have been great.  105 minutes was about 45 minutes too long.  All of her past life stuff was too much and drug out.

Overall this flick gets a slightly lower than average flick, going with 5/10.  If you like suspense type flicks worth checking out.

Classic Wrestling Review: 1994-01-29 Superstars

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you found today's entry.  Today, 2020-03-27, I am going back once again to 1994 to watch the January 29th WWF Superstars.  The Royal Rumble was just a week ago.  Will Owen Hart explain why he is the better Hart?  I hope so, but enough hoping and let's get to watching!
  • I love Jack Tunney, mostly because he looks like my Grandpa Bennett!
  • This was a unique "tournament" style Mania.  I understand why they did not go with it again but it was different and cool
  • It is amazing how young Vinnie Mac looks, I know it is 1994 but it is shocking every time I see it
  • MOM was just awful, I am sorry but they were
  • The future Bob Holly!  One of my personal favourites
  • Not the best splash but the fans were excited which is the point
  • Wow....that was the worst guest ring announcer and I love that Vince mocked her!
  • Big Daddy Cool looked much better once he grew that mullet out!
  • The fans loved Tatanaka still at this point.  He, however, would lose steam when hey turned him heel which just did not fit
  • I love those 1994 Jeff Jarrett outfits!
  • I saw him pull Double J's hair
  • Poor Sid and Leroy are in trouble
  • Samu always seemed really rough while Fatu seemed to be working
  • What the hell was Leroy trying to do?
  • Scotty was still a good looking baby face at this point and Rick was Rick.  Always liked the guys from the Mighty MI!
A good show but the lack of followup with the Hart Brothers boggles my mine.  Jeff Jarrett was one of the best in 1994.  He made Knox look like a million bucks.  No reason to go out of your way to see this show but if you are bored there are worse ways to waste 45 minutes
