Classic Wrestling Review: 1994-01-29 Power Hour

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-03-27, I am going back to 1994 once again for the last Power Hour of January.  I believe this show will be the same as last weeks Worldwide but we shall see, I am going to watch and probably repeat myself.  I did see we are going to see Hogan....Randy Hogan vs. Vader to start off which I know we saw before.  But we are in the middle of a pandemic and this is a great way for me to shut my mind off with some old school wrastlin' as it were so enough chit chat....
  • Hogan's brother is taking on Vader!  Now we know why the Hulkster shows up in a few months
  • I like that they are talking about the Clash even though we know this match aired prior to this
  • Terry Taylor was not a good announcer most of the time
  • Seriously Vader looked like he hurt people....that is because he did
  • Bagwell had horrible rhythm even for a white dude
  • Even back at this point, Bagwell came off as a heel.  He is not very likeable
  • Well that was not quite perfect but he did a pretty fisherman suplex
  • I like that Larry talks about Mike "working for the Government".  Man I love Larry
  • Michael Hayes was not bad as an announcer, always surprised we did not see him do it more in WWF
  • Sting was really over at this point and listen to that crowd!
  • Damn is there a better flying clothesline than Rotunda?
  • Payne looks a little bit like Barry Goldberg
  • The Cole Twins just never took off
  • They probably should have had better hair cuts and been heels.  Why have twins that do not cheat with "Twin Magic"
Yeah, this was just another show.  Other than the Vader match nothing to see here.

RESULTS
  • Vader def. Randy Hogan vis countout
  • Too Cold Scorpio/Marcus Bagwell def. Nasty Ned/The Claw
  • Superbrawl Control Center:  Steven Regal (WCW TV Champion) & Sir William/Arn Anderson
  • WCW Flash Back:  Sting def. Mike Rotunda (WCW TV Champion) for the Title
  • Erik Watts def. Bill Payne via Submission
  •  Keith Cole/Kent Cole def. Bob Cook/Bill Tyree
  • Brian Knobbs/Jerry Sags (WCW Tag Team Champions) def. Ken Kendall/Frank Rose

Classic Wrestling Review: 1994-01-27 Clash of the Champions

Good morning, good afternoon, Good evening....whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-03-26, we are going back to 1994 and the end of January for the Clash of the Champions!  Ric Flair and Sting take on Vader and Rick Rude.  Plus the match I am waiting for, Dustin Rhodes takes on favorite Steven Regal.  Let us go to the ring....
  • BOB HEENAN IS HERE!  BEST DAY OF WCW EVER!!!
  • I love that Bobby comes out with his classic one-liners, I know who the Assassin is....the guy in the mask
  • I think I say this ever WCW show they are on, but why was Roma not a bigger star?  Has to be the attitude in the back right?
  • Those trunks on Scorpio & Bagwell were just awful!
  • Nick Patrick was WAY out of position there
  • Why would Orndorff go to the top?
  • Wait...that finished Roma off?  Strange finish
  • Ah there was an object in the knee pad, I missed that till the replay
  • Weird they came back right on action, no intros or anything
  • I always liked Ice Train, especially later on as MI Smooth
  • Oh man I love Austin with is Southern Accent
  • This is the match I was looking forward to!
  • I love that Sir William is out there keeping track of the time
  • I would pay to see this match today, they would be 10 times better than just about anything put on TV this week
  • I do not understand why are none of the announcers wearing masks?
  • I love that Bobby could do the serious type announcing and then talk about thumbing both eyes
  • Bobby popped Gordan twice thus far
  • This is why it was great to have Regal as TV champion.  Regal and Anderson were the best at making these matches
  • THAT IS ILLEGAL!  Closed fists
  • Regal knows what he is doing, he is keeping Rhodes off guard
  • HE HIT SIR WILLIAM!!!  THAT IS DISGUSTING!
  •  It is weird that they took Tony out of the booth for Gordan
  • MMMM, Missy Hyatt!!
  • I do love that Cactus clothesline over the top
  • Payne does look like Cousin It!
  • Not a great match, but what you expect with three of these men
  • Missy better get some shots
  • Those fans were booing Pillman winning?
  • I love that Parker could wrestle like both a wrestler or a manager, he is woefully underrated
  • What is that big hick doing getting involved?!
  • How entertaining was Austin back at this point
  • WTF?  THAT WAS A THREE COUNT!
  • This is maybe my favourite version of Vader, that 1993-1995 Vader.  The best shape and still had that killer instinct.
  • It is a shame Rick Rude got hurt in the near future of 1994, I think he could still be going otherwise
  • Were Vader's best matches in the state with Sting?
  • Name another big man that can take moves like that German like Vader did, I will wait
  • Was this the best time period of Sting?  The Sting Squadron through Hogan showing up
  • I love to hear Flair scream "Oh God" it was so perfect
  • A vicious DDT by Rude
  • Is Sting loopy here?  He seems really out of it
This was a good show with two great matches.  The two tag matches were okay.  The opening match was there and was really good when Pretty Wonderful was in charge.  Bagwell was still green and Scorpio is good at what he does.  Train and Simmons was just there and probably should not have been on TV yet.  Then you have the Regal/Rhodes match.  Like I said this could happen today and be better than most of the matches on TV.  Both of these men are top ten of all time in my opinion.  Then you had the Nastys match, which was what it was.  Exactly what you expect, sloppy and hard hitting and just the next chapter of their match match.  The chicken suit match was a storyline match but showed how great Parker was in the ring.  And the main event...man Vader was on fire and amazing.  Flair was in his prime.  Rude never looked better and Sting always stepped up with the right men in the ring with him.  Those four should have main event PPV against each other for years but we know who is coming in....brother.

RESULTS
  • Marcus Bagwell/Too Cold Scorpio def. Paul Roma/Paul Orndorff
  • Ron Simmons def. Ice Train
  • Interview:  Steve Austin (US Champion) & Col. Parker
  • Interview:  Nick Bockwinkel
  • Steven Regal (TV Champion) & Dustin Rhodes went to a Time Limit Draw for the Title
  • Interview:  Aaron Neville
  • Cactus Jack/Maxx Payne def. Brian Knobbs/Jerry Sags (WCW Tag Team Champions)
  • History:  Brian Pillman & Steve Austin/Col Parker
  • Brian Pillman def. Col. Parker in a Chicken Suit Match
  • Sting/Ric Flair (WCW World Champion) def. Rick Rude (WCW International Champion)/Vader in an Elimination Match

2020-07-10 Lions Break Collision Course Day 2 Review

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-07-14, I am checking out some New Japan action.  I am not sure what this show is if it is a recap of Day 2 or what but it is wrestling and I am game for ANYTHING!
  • This appears to be a weekly show with Kevin Kelly
  • Interesting the way the show is being set up, Skype calls
  • I like this format of being no scripted
  • Maybe the dumbest name ever for a wrestler!
  • I am not familiar with either of these guys.  Both with slightly different looks
  • It appears to be a much smaller ring than WWE or AEW uses
  • A very basic match thus far which is interesting
  • Wrestling is weird without an audience
  • Modified Rings of Saturn there.
  • Okay...do not put a mic in Taylors hands again!
  • I would love to see a debut of a guy without tats
  • Good grief look at the tats on TJP
  • Very interesting that this match again is about wrestling.  Could NJPW be what I have been wanting to see?
  • There we go....DIVE!!!
  • The one problem that I have with NJPW is almost everyone is smaller
  • Nice leg slap
  • Interesting that this submission is similar to what Rust used as a finisher
  • TJP as a heel just does not work.  I do not buy him as a tough guy
  • So he was just about dead and now he can walk the ropes.  *sigh*
  • Was that some kind of weird frog splash?
  • Seriously what is with your tats TJP?
The opening match was different and I liked it.  I do not think I saw a superkick or dive which is something I like!  I have never liked TJP.  I do not know why honestly.  He is really good in the ring.  I do not know if it the look or what but I have never been a fan.

Movie Review: Killer Racoons 2: Dark Christmas in the Dark

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today I am going to talk about the new movie Killer Racoons! 2! Dark Christmas in the Dark.  It stars
Yang Miller, Ron Lynch and Tom Lyons.  IMDB only has 23 reviews of the flick and it is sitting at 3.8 as of today 2020-07-19.  I give it a higher score then that, I give it a 5/10

I am not going to do my usual stream of consciousness for this flick, unfortunately, due to a bad back.  I watched the flick without my computer.   However, I will give my thoughts on the flick.  First off let me say that when I saw the title I knew I had to watch this flick.  Then I saw the trailer:

And I knew there was no way I was not going to see this flick!  It looked like such a trainwreck (no pun intended). I also realize that it was one of those flicks that knew it was going to be bad and it was done on purpose.  So going in I thought I was going to be watching 90 minutes of Tim and Eric which I was not sure I would enjoy.  However...I really enjoyed this flick!

The acting was done well enough that you could tell they were trying but not being over the top all the time, and when they were it was the correct time to do it!  The villains were so over the top that they were perfect.  The fact that they all wore eye patches was a nice touch.  My wife even asked why.  My answer was because they were bad guys and racoons are vicious.  The plot was enough and I love that the reference this mythical (I assume, I can not find any evidence) Killer Racoons 1.  I understood this flicks plot more then I did the other flick I watched last night, Uncut Gems.  They gave the entire plot throughout the flick and I feel like I have seen it without having seen it.  The lighting effects of the guns and the blood effects were perfect in this flick.  The run time was perfect as well at 90ish minutes.  Honestly, the only reason I did not give it a higher rating is that it was bad, even if on purpose.  Wait...you know what I am going to change my rating.  I am going to give it a 7!  They knew what they were making and made it that way.  They achieved, I assume, exactly what they wanted.  How can I not give it my average when it was what I expected and again I assume what they wanted.  If you want a really good bad movie this is what you should watch.  Not a lot of language in it besides "shitsnakes" I think.  The violence is over the top that it is not there.  I mean at one point Smallwood and one of the bad guys are snapping waffle makers at each other during a fight.  Overall I would say to check this flick out, it was a lot of fun!

Classic Wrestling Review: 1994-01-25 ECW

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you have found this entry.  Tonight, 2020-03-26, we are going back over 20 years to 1994 once again.  We are going to the future ECW Arena to the 1994-01-25 ECW Hardcore TV show.  We will see Terry Funk taking on Pat Tanaka, Tommy Dreamer and the Public Enemy in action as well.  I will be honest I had not heard of ECW at this point back in the day so all of this is new to me.  So enough "talking" because it is time to get....

  • Look at that headset Joey has!
  • Wow, Joey taking shots at Vince and his lawsuit
  • I had no idea Gillberg wrestled in ECW!
  • I always forget that Rocco could wrestle
  • I hate "Hat Guy" in ECW.  He was annoying as hell
  • Wow that was an ugly finisher by Rocco
  • Public Enemy were awful in these interviews
  • Look at Tommy Dreamer here!  Good looking babyface....in three years he will not be that!
  • Why is Joey yelling so much?
  • I love the suspenders with no shirt look!
  • Mikey don't call me Whipwreck Wippwreck making his debut!
  • Mikey did an amazing job of getting his ass kicked!
  • I am confused, are Tanaka and Diamond good guys or bad guys?
  • Really?  Tanaka kicked out of Funk's piledriver?
  • Wait....so is Funk a bad guy?  I am so confused
  • Is that suppose to be manhole cover?
  • How is Sullivan not in the HoF?
  • That was one of the ugliest spiked piledrivers I have ever seen
This show did not make me want to watch more ECW honestly.  Joey yelling, a confusing Funk/Tanaka/Sullivan angle.  Really bad Public Enemy promos.  Overall not a great show but there is always next week!

Classic Wrestling Review: 1994-01-24 Raw

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-03-07, we are going back to 1994 again and checking out the Raw after the Royal Rumble.  What is the fallout from having TWO winners?  What is Owen & Bret going to say after Owen finally stepped out of his brothers shadow?  Only one way to find out!
  • Starting off with Flexy Lexy!
  • From a distance, Steele looked like Buddy Landell
  • Lex did not really have a finisher in the WWF did he?  I kind of like that he is so good he can finish you off many ways
  • Both Vince and JR look so young...because they are I know
  • I kind of miss Todd, I thought he was really good at his job
  • I NEVER liked MOM.  I found them to be annoying.  I liked Mabel as Viscera later on especially his ECW run but as MOM I did not like it
  • Why do you feel sorry for Bret?  HE HELD OWEN BACK FOR YEARS!
  • Weird the Headshrinkers were acting normal
  • The ref is not out of position, Bill needs to make sure Mabel does not interfere, it is his fault!
  • Who cares about how Stu and Helen felt?  They held Owen back as well!
  • A dropkick from Samu?  Not something you saw very often
  • Mabel was so sloppy at this point
  • Wait...the Headshrinkers are going to win?  That is surprising
  • Wait, Owen tried to help Bret several times there Vinnie Mac!
  • Number 30 is not the dream draw, number 27 is JR!
  • I am surprised Bryan Clarke never had a better run anywhere.  He seemed to check all the boxes
  • I always liked that version of the powerbomb
  • I hate Dink so much, I just wanted to see him punted into next week
  • Doink was great when he was the evil clown.  This version with the midget sucked
  • Most of these matches have gone on about 25% too long it seems
  • Man I miss the fake Vince McMahon laugh!
  • I will take these Raw girls over the Nitro Girls any day!
  • I always liked using the piledriver as a finisher instead of the Superkick, especially now that EVERYONE does a superkick, or some use it 25 times in each match
A good show that features guys they were pushing.  I am surprised that we did not see Owen or Bret to follow up with that angle.  As I mentioned above I do feel like most of the matches went a little too long but they had a full show to fill and probably did not want another match.  Personally, I would have had Cornette do a promo but then again I would have him on every show!  Next classic wrestling review will be ECW so until then....Abyssinia!

RESULTS
  • Lex Luger def. Austin Steele
  • Royal Rumble Report
  • Jeff Jarrett def. John Paul
  • Samu/Fatu def. Mo/Mabel

Amityville Island: A movie review

I have no idea what this flick is.  I saw it online and thought it was about the Amityville House but it does not appear to have anything to do with that story.  So what is it?  I do not know but it has been a while since I reviewed a flick so lets watch this....remember most of these movies I watch I do so you do not have to!
  • Well they are getting the plot points out early about the death of the husband
  • The acting is...um...well this makes the Asylum flicks look well done and acted
  • Of course, a creepy doll is involved, it is horror 101
  • OH MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST OPENING CREDIT MUSIC EVER!!!!
  • Guess we are on to another family already, so the husband dies in Iraq was pointless
  • They must have paid a lot for the glowing eyeball effect, they are using it a lot
  • This is making Birdemics acting look like the Godfather!
  • Ah, so underground death row fighting.
  • Wait...pervs?  They are not naked or doing it
  • Is the bear no possessed by the baby demon?
  • The guy does not hear a bear coming up behind him?
  • Nice stock bear walking footage
  • So he is just "gone" no word of a bear eating him
  • Why are they going to a marina?  I thought they red room or whatever was full of snakes and shit
  • So the demon can just jump to anyone?  I am so confused right now
  • Only need the uterus?  I would think the police would notice death row inmates missing.  This has plot holes the size of the Enterprise in it
  • Love the stock footage of animals
  • Why does the tag line say to stay out of the water?  So far we have seen possession and zombies.  Where in the blue hell do the sharks come in?
  • This movie cost 30k?  Where?  Catering?
  • Wait, how is the shark possessed when the chick is possessed?
  • Also, they could not find stock footage of a shark swimming?
  • That was the most realistic shark attack I have ever seen...if I had never seen a shark in my life
  • How many times does he need to lift the chicks by their chins?
  • Are the computers now possessed?
  • Cell Block Haram privileges?  And just left that as voicemail
  • Holy shit!  This demon came from the Ark of the Covenant!
  • WTF is happening with that computer screen?
  • This is the most disjointed flick I have ever seen
  • We do not know what is going on here, no one knows 59, no one
  • Those are really nice doors for a secret fertility clinic
  • I am going to say this is the worst movie I have ever sat through.  There were a few I shut off but this is the worst I am going to finish...hands down
  • So now it is about zombies, sharks, cloning, and possession?
  • Mary gave birth to Jesus....but whatever
  • No Bond villains are better acted and written
  • Good grief, this acting....I...I cannot say how bad it is.  There are no words
  • Why is #9 just looking at him?
  • Oh right so he can get his monologue off
  • Oh shit #9 is still alive!  Time for sequel!
  • Oh shit, the baby survived!  Doctor Tyler will live on!
  • Its the breifcase from Pulp Fiction!  She gives birth to the briefcase!
This flick is still going but I am going to go ahead and write this part.  This. Is. The. Worst. Movie. I. Have. Ever. Finished.  Seriously I long for movies like Rubber, Birdemic, One Eyed Monster and the like after this.  This is as bad as Wearwolf Bitches from Outspace and such.  I will say this flick has one thing going for it....its short!

Fyter Fest 2020 Night 1 Review

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you have found this entry.  Tonight, 2020-07-02, I am going to check out Fyter Fest 2020 Night 1 that happened just last night.  Big matches including the Best Friends taking on the Tag Team Champions and others.  As I type this Chris Jericho is coming out to join the commentary team so its time to get to the matches!

  • Jericho on Twitter sure does make excuses when NXT beats AEW in the overall ratings
  • Can we PLEASE fire Justin Roberts?
  • MJF, one of the best around
  • What is MJF wearing?
  • Seriously can we also please get rid of Marko Stunt
  • Chris should not say anything about someones clothes with that horrible Canada suit on
  • Of course Tony would see the chicks in bikinis
  • Jericho needs to NOT yell every time he is on commentary
  • So the big guys do not sell anything and just exchange moves got it
  • Jungle Boy who is small is as tall on his knees as Stunt!
  • Ten seconds?  Is that the first time AEW has mentioned that it is a 10 count not 5
  • Poisonrana is the dumbest move
  • Nothing is being sold, even MJF no-sold a move and then fell down
  • How is Stunt getting involved not a DQ?
  • Senton-a-tomica?  Good grief Excaliber
  • THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISQUALIFIED FOR STUNT!
  • Janela could not get his horrible shirt off ha ha
  • Seriously Jericho is so good when he does not yell
  • Really missed that running boot but Ford is very good in the ring
  • I hate the exchange shots spot
  • Ford is about to have a wardrobe malfunction
  • Ford did not counter the Falcon Arrow, she countered the pinfall boys, come on!
  • I love that we are going to hit our finishers and not have them work gimmick...oh wait I think it is stupid
  • Really good match aside from the finishers being kicked out of
  • Moxley does not have really hook the double underhook that deep Taz
  • I have to say that Hager out punted his coverage with his wife
  • What is with that ref's hair
  • Oh god Justin Roberts is in the ring!
  • THAT IS DROP KICK MIKE POSEY?
  • No one wants that Tony, no one
  • I hate the fake chants even more than the actual chants the crowds do
  • Commercial time
  • Did that break Cody's neck?
  • Why not go for Cross Rhodes there?  Very strange
  • Watching a Cody match is like a Jeff Jarrett match in TNA, so many bells and whistles
  • I hate this Darby crap, no one cares
  • The "hometown" of Private Party is just awful!
  • Do tag matches in AEW have any rules?
  • That match was very sloppy
  • You have wrestled as a team like 2 times Kenny you moron
  • Can we have a team of Taz, Jericho and Ross as announcers please
  • Seriously?  Trents mom?  Oh my god this is awful
  • They honestly just said the they were driven to the ring by Trent's mom.  Is Judy Bagwell next?
  • How long till we have a Sue on a Pole match?
  • No Omega is only the greatest in the eyes of guys like Meltzer, no one who has watched him in AEW thinks it
  • Good grief I almost look like an athlete next to Chuckie T
  • Why have we not had more shots of those young ladies at ringside?
  • That was a sloppy looking Piledriver and why WWE does not allow them
  • Chuck looks like a wrestler that has been retired and they brought back like they used to do in Memphis
  • Seriously Chuckie T has a gut nearly as big as mine!
  • I love that FTR is making shadow puppets
Another okay show from AEW.  Their matches just go on for too long and too many finishers being kicked out of.  I liked the first tag match even though I disagree with the finish.  The Womens match was probably the best on the show but again way too many big move kick outs.  Cody and Jake was solid but the bells and whistles are getting old.  I HATED the Private Party tag match.  Sloppy sloppy sloopy.  The main event was good but again too many big moves being hit and mean nothing.  Overall a solid show that I give a B to.
