Classic Wrestling Review: 1994-01-15 Smokey Mountain

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever you find this entry.  Today we are going back to 1994 once more this time to the Smokey Mountains for the Leader of the Cult of Cornette's own promotion.  I have not seen a lot of SMW so I am extra excited about this.  Lets stop the talking and get to it shall we!
  • I do love the theme to SMW and the team of Bob and Dirty Dutch
  • AEW would love to have that hot a crowd....so would WWE for that matter
  • Ricky Morton against Chris Candido?  YES PLEASE!
  • If this interviewer does not say 90's I do not know what does!
  • THERE IS MY CULT LEADER!  CORNY!
  • Is Cornette the best talker in wrestling history?
  • So weird to see someone being cheered draped in the Stars and Bars!
  • Listen to those fans!!
  • Great to see Tracey Smothers who is currently battling lymphoma.  He is going to beat it like he did Victory here
  • Strange that WWF could not use Candido better, even though I enjoyed Skip and Sunny
  • Dirty White Boy was not the best interview but you believed what he said!
  • Daryl Van Horn!  The most underrated manager I think, be it Van Horn, Sinister Minister or all the other names he has gone by
  • This should be a hell of a match!
  • Spiked Candido on his head with that head scissors!
  • It is weird that Ricky looks almost the same today as he did in 1994
  • Well....that match was not what I wanted.  A countout really?
  • Notice we have seen on superkick this whole show
  • Wow Doug should never have been given a mic
  • OH MY GOD A YOUNG TAMMY!!!!
  • Sorry got distracted there
  • Brian Lee just looks like a moron, he has such a puncha.....sorry got distracted as Tammy was getting out of the ring....a punchable face
  • Blaze should NOT have worn those trunks
Great storylines but not a lot of great wrestling but that is old school southern wrestling.  The TV was about making you want to go to the matches and man did those fans want to be there!  Loved hearing Corny and Bob is such an underrated announcer.  A fun show but not the classic wrestling that I was hoping for but this was a new year and new feuds so there is always "next week".

Royal Rumble 2020 Review

It is one of my favourite days of the year!  IT IS TIME FOR THE ROYAL RUMBLE!  I will be randomly throwing my thoughts up here from start to finish.  I am super excited.  I have my glass of Sailor Jerry, my Mountain Dew, and will be ordering some pizza shortly.  It must mean it is time for a PPV!
  • Charley looks amazing...as always
  • I do love me some Christian!
  • How goofy do people look with their "belts"
  • Sheamus returns and gets pushed to the Kickoff show?  BOO!
  • Sam cut that horrible hair....now if someone could dress him
  • This is one of the best parts of Rumble season, the Numbers segment!
  • I hate that they include the Saudi rumble in the numbers, it is not a royal rumble damn it!
  • Did Titus ever get out from under that ring?
  • Sam Roberts needs to just shave his head, he has a 12 head!
  • I want to slap half of the people in the background.  Yeah, you idiots mugging for the camera!
  • With only 7 announced women does that show the lack of stars or a big surprise incoming?
  • Does Asuka have a chance?
  • Christian is having problems finding his words tonight, it is weird
  • I hated the new Bray Wyatt at first, now I love it.  It just shows that sometimes you have let the story playout
  • It is so weird to see D-Bry with the short hair and beard after all these years
  • I cannot imagine a strap match!
  • I really hate Sam Roberts
  • Is that Booker hair or does he have extensions do you think?
  • Lacey almost had a wardrobe malfunction during that commercial
  • Why is the brother so much smaller?
  • I love the "new" Bayley for the record, plus her haircut is awesome
  • Oh Christian, that is not cool.  Sam's haircut is the worst haircut EVER!
  • Can someone move that fat moron from the background, I honestly hate them all!  They should be up in a skybox
  • I think the first ref is hitting the ring!
  • Wow lots of empty seats behind the Celtic Warrior
  • Shorty G is the worst name since Bastion Booger!
  • I am so glad to see Sheamus back, but what is up with the horrible lighting?  Still, working on it?
  • Ordering pizza so I missed some of this match but Shorty is getting too much Offense in against Sheamus in my opinion.  His gimmick is the underdog, this is what killed the 1-2-3 Kid and this gimmick
  • The correct man won!
  • I do miss the Mohawk
  • What is Todd Phillips doing there?  Where is Vic?
  • I just do not care for either of these guys, sorry
  • Wait....I do care about Andrade because it gets us Zelina on our TV
  • There is just very little psychology in their matches.  Just not a fan of Lucha Libre style matches
  • Why is Zelina trying to get the fans into the match?
  • Is the ref related to President Trump?  They are both orange!
  • He should not have kicked out but grabbed the ropes
  • Nice finishing sequence that shows Humberto could have won
  • No run away from Brock the entire time!
  • Uggg, I hate Roman Reigns because that means I will have to see the Usos at some point
  • Seriously Kofi's hair is awful blonde
  • I love the Stone Cold opening!  We need more Steve Austin on our TV screens
  • If Reigns is the big dog he had to be fed like a dog!
  • Reigns should get sued for attacking security like that!
  • DEEP SIX ITS OVER!
  • Damn it
  • Corbin is the second-best king of all time after the greatest king in William Regal
  • Of course King Booker was good....as was the Macho King....and how can I forget King Duggan....but still Corbin is pretty good
  • Damn Germans ruin everything!
  • Why does Reigns still weird the Shield Vest?
  • The question is will this be the blowoff match or we will see these guys fight for another month or two
  • Those who did not think these four would get involved stand on your heads
  • The only people to have more X-Pac heat then X-Pac would be the Usos
  • Why would Jimmy do that, he just took out his own brother!
  • Will King Corbin end up in the toilet?
  • WHAT IF SOMEONE IS IN THERE?
  • Well that was a shitty thing to do!
  • Tessa Blanchard is probably upset they stole her shit gimmick
  • Who is shocked at those results?  Anyone?
  • Are the fans booing Reigns?
  • How much botox is in Mandy's lips?
  • How horrible is it that Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter died in that helicopter crash?
  • Time for the Womens Royal Rumble!
  • That ring announcer is horrible!  I miss the Fink!
  • I knew Alexa would go bell to bell and win it all.
  • The first person for me to cheer against is Bianca Belair
  • YES MIGHTY MOLLY!  She is the winner!  I am calling it
  • I do not like Nikki's gear
  • I love Alexa screaming for Nikki, that is perfect
  • Lana is going to talk, thank goodness!
  • It is WW-E Lana, you forgot the E darling
  • Nice Captain Marvel gear
  • Is this even 90 seconds?
  • I said it all along, Mercedes is the winner!
  • What is up with Liv's horrible gear, its like bad S&M gear
  • Eliminating her from the Royal Rumble will not get you your girlfriend back Liv
  • Nikki is stripping down!  SHE IS CRAZY!
  • Nice missile dropkick from Candice
  • I knew Molly Holly would not win
  • ITS OTIS!  HE SAVED MANDY!
  • My wife actually called this!
  • Mercedes with a vicious roaring elbow!
  • BOO!  Mercedes is gone
  • Mia Yim is gonna win!
  • Thank goodness the Goddess is still in there
  • I HATE YOU BIANCA!
  • I do like Dana, always have
  • When was the last time we saw Tamina?
  • Not for very long here!
  • A lot of NXT stars
  • Bliss is not wearing her gloves, that is weird
  • Chelsea Green and she is gone
  • Back to #1 and #2
  • DAMN IT!  I HATE YOU BIANCA!
  • Here is your winner!  THE QUEEN
  • Wow, look at Naomi's hair!
  • The fans are popping big for her return!
  • Beth is the winner!  I knew it all along
  • Was that Beth's head against the post?
  • Toni Storm is the winner, I called it!
  • Finally!  I am so glad Bianca is gone....but the fans are not happy about it
  • I sure hope Charlotte does not win
  • THE STINK FACE IS BACK!  Where do I sign up for it from Kelly Kelly?
  • Is Flair bleeding? She bleeds all the time
  • No, I think the blood is from Beth's head
  • Beth is basically ginger now!
  • I knew all along that Zelina was the winner of the rumble
  • Carmella is #27, the winning number!
  • That officially was the dumbest thing ever in wrestling I think
  • THERE IS YOUR WINNER!  THE QUEEN OF SPADES!
  • She is the queen of spades not the queen of hearts!
  • Why would she do that now though?  After you eliminate the Spade
  • I do not want Charlotte to win!
  • Damn it.  Great, let's do Charlotte Flair against Becky yet again.  Because we have not seen that match 100 times already!
  • King Corbin is right, the Bloodline is cheating constantly!
  • I really like Lacey Evans but I wish they would change her gimmick
  • Wow twitter is upset that Charlotte won and that Sasha was not in the match.  Honestly, I did not notice that Sasha was not involved because I do not miss her
  • I feel sorry for these two following the Rumble because the crowd is dead
  • Well that was anti-climatic
  • I love the Fiend!
  • Look at his back, this is nuts!
  • Did they say this was pinfall or submission?  That is not how the strap match works!
  • Man, this is stiff and sounds and looks painful!
  • A lot of blood tonight!
  • Interesting counter to the Mandible Claw
  • Good grief how do you not flinch while getting strapped?
  • The question is where do you go from here with D-Bry?
  • Oh I thought it was going to be Kane or the Undertaker but nope, just the Fiend leaving
  • I love Asuka's gear!
  • Do you think they will have Becky lose the belt?  I cannot imagine it
  • I love Asuka talking to herself.  She is great!
  • These two have great chemistry
  • These two have great matches together.  They look like fights instead of dancing which is what it should be
  • That was like an atomic drop
  • I agree with everything Asuka just said
  • Is Becky legit knocked out?  Nope they got me though
  • Awesome escape to the Chicken wing!
  • This started off slow but has really picked up
  • I love the facial expressions Asuka has
  • Love the mist missing and the finish
  • I will admit it, I LOVE The Street Profit segments
  • I hope the Revival comes out and destroys Booker T during the Rumble, give him a few Shatter Machines
  • Here is your winner, The WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar!
  • Why would you anger Lesnar?
  • I hate good guy Elias!
  • Good god did you see those hammer fists!
  • This will be the worst/best Royal Rumble ever because there will only ever be two men in the ring
  • I called it!  Lesnar will not even break a sweat!
  • If Roode was smart he would roll in and out and then RUN!
  • Has anyone ever eliminated all 29 men?  Because we will see it here
  • Morrison might last by running
  • Four down, twenty-five to go!
  • Kofi should have kept rolling
  • And the PC entry is here as they let a midget enter
  • No one can take Lesnar!
  • I do love me some Big E
  • Big E wisely trying to get everyone together
  • HA HA the crowd thought Lesnar was going to be eliminated!
  • Heyman told everyone it was a spoiler!
  • Former OVW tag team partners
  • Zayn should not be having Nakamura get to the ring
  • 10 down 19 to go
  • This is the man I said should eliminate Lesnar and win it all!
  • Three monsters in the ring now with Lee, Strowman and Lesnar
  • Why would they fight each other and not Lesnar?
  • If Lee or Lesnar could not get him out no one can
  • Drew vs. Brock would be a helluva match
  • Let me rephrase that, Drew vs. Brock will be a helluva match at Mania
  • The fans are going to make Brock angry...you, and more importantly Drew, will not like him when he is angry
  • Drew is scary strong!
  • Good grief Edge looks so old compared to how we remember him
  • ITS KING CORBIN!
  • Uggg, I hate Matt Riddle
  • He is so annoying!
  • King Corbin is my new favourite wrestler!
  • Randy Orton and Edge together again!  RATED RKO!!!
  • With Charlotte vs. Lynch why not do Reigns vs. Lesnar one more time!
  • Wow Reigns just no-sold that chop
  • This is the winning number!
  • Aleister Black....I completely forgot about him!
  • Samoa Joe and Rollins remain
  • I love me some Samoa Joe!
  • Why not have your buddies come with you Seth, that is brilliant!
  • I knew all along it would the Monday Night Messiah winning it all!
  • This is not cool at all, he is Raw's Messiah!
  • Roman Reigns stole the spear from Edge!
  • Drew is going to main event Mania huh?  Lesnar vs. Drew will be a fight!
What a show!  This is always my favourite show of the year and it did not disappoint this year.  The return of Edge.  The Fiend having an amazing match with D-Bry.  Beth Phoniex showing why she is still better than half the roster.  It was not a perfect show.  They had Charlotte Flair win the rumble and I do not think we need to see another Becky vs. Charlotte match but that is me.  I loved loved LOVED the mens rumble!  Overall it is was a great show however and cannot wait to see how they follow it up

Picard: First Episode Reivew

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you have found this.  Today I got to check out the first episode of the new Star Trek series Picard.  Here are my thoughts.

First off it is great to see Jean Luc back on the screen.  While he is looking older it was fantastic!  I also like that we see him with Data right off with him.  It seems fitting since these are arguably the best-remembered characters (yeah come at me).

The storyline seems to be going in a very interesting direction as well with Data/Dr. Soong will play a very important part which I like as I always liked Data personally.

It is also nice to see that at some point we see Troi and Riker and strangely enough 7 of 9.  Hopefully, we get a surprise from Worf and/or Geordi and it would be perfect.

The rest of the cast seems really good as well with the Alison Pill as a scientist and Harry Treadaway, of Mr. Mercedes fame, as seemingly a very bad Romulan.

The first episode had a great mix of action and storyline set up.  If anything it was a little heavy on the action but that is fine as long as it does not get too heavy into it (never thought I would say that).

I am excited and already enjoy it more than Discovery!

Wrestling Review: 2020-01-24 Smackdown

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  We are just two days away from the Royal Rumble and it is time for the go-home show from the Blue Brand.  I know the main event is Kofi Kingston against John Morrison and we get to see a contract signing between The Planets Champion and Bray Wyatt!  Let us get to the ring....and it is the Usos....boo
  • Ugg, I hate the Usos!  Seriously how long before one of them gets another DUI and they go away yet again
  • Was that too soon?
  • I wonder what Bobby Roode failed the wellness test for, they never did announce what
  • The Usos do not look healthy, they look like guys who worked out but then stopped
  • Fans are all over Roode, weird
  • Wow, that was rough looking on one of the Usos...I guess Jimmy per Cole
  • Also, the Usos need to change those chia pet hair cuts
  • Yes I will just rip on the Usos till they are off my TV
  • I like everyone but the Usos in this match.  They have X-Pac heat with me, they need to just go away
  • Remember when Corbin had that horrible stringy hair
  • That was not a good head to the steps spot guys, you two are better!
  • I do not like Reigns but he is good in the ring and since he returned the fans are into him
  • Reigns hair is starting to recede a bit it looked like
  • This match is way too long for a handicap match
  • If these three cannot defeat Reigns how can the King on his own?
  • Wait Jimmy can come back out?  SHOCKED!
  • The Bloodline....that is a pretty cool name actually
  • Good grief Lacey Evans is a goddess
  • Why is Cole doing the interview and not Charley or one of the other interviewers?
  • Those stupid dots on her vail make it look like Lacey has stuff on her teeth
  • I do like the story that Lacey has, and I do not think her voice cracking is acting.  I just wish they would change her "sassy Southern Belle" gimmick
  • Who did not see Bayley doing something?  Stand on your head
  • I love Dana but she is looking a little too thin or got some work done which I hope is not true
  • Did Lacey have pants on earlier?  I went back and she di
  • I do not like Good guy Alexa
  • I LOVE OTIS!
  • Uggg, why is Braun not a monster?  He is doing comedy bits with Elias for the love of god!
  • It is weird that they put Cesaro into another team instead of reuniting the Bar
  • Strangely I do not care about this match which is sad but there was no chance Sami and his team was winning
  • Uggg, I hate the "shocked" face that the female announcers get.  It is so fake
  • WTF is Big E doing?
  • Oh yeah if he is greasy he cannot be thrown over the top rope!
  • This show seems to be going on FOREVER!  I think I had a birthday already
  • I love this segment every year when they throw these numbers around
  • I love that the slow-mo shot is back!
  • Wow that face plant out of the monkey flip looks brutal.
  • I am so happy to see Morrison back on the main stage
  • Starship Pain looks amazing, if I was 1/100th that athletic!
  • Seriously was this show 3 hours tonight?
  • Kofi should not have kicked out of that kick, that should have been the end!
  • I hate the Usos hair cut and Kofi's is right there as well
  • I hate the Spanish Fly, it is so fake looking
  • Kofi was champion for six months?  Really?  Did not seem that long
  • Oh Miz, that is just silly!
  • Wait....is that a fax machine?
  • A sick man?  Bray is not a sick man!
  • I hated the new Bray Wyatt at first but I love it now
  • WORD OF THE DAY!
  • Run Michael Cole, run!
  • I cannot imagine the pain of the strap match, it is insane
  • I wonder how much the mask messes with Bray
  • Did he just stab his own hand to get the "blood"?  WOWEY ZOWEY
The second half of the show was good.  Morrison vs. Kofi and The Fiend was fantastic.  I LOVED the Lacey Evans segment because it felt real and not scripted (even if it was).  The six-man was good but way WAY too long, need to be cut by probably a third and allow Bliss and company to wrestle for a few minutes before the brawl.  As much as I like most of the guys in the tag match the outcome was never in questions and I was bored, bored I tell you.  I hate the babyface Elias more than babyface Alexa.  However, the best part of the night was the by the numbers segment, got me pumped for the Rumble in a few days.  I hope to be "live" blogging it, updating after each match.  Until next time...from the Fat Man himself....Abyssinia!

Classic Wrestling Review: 1994-01-15 Power Hour

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this blog.  Today we are once again going back to 1994 and checking out the Power Hour from January 15th.  Not sure what is on the show so not a big intro so lets get right to it!

  • Terry Taylor on commentary?  Nice!  I like him on the stick for some reason
  • I would FEAR Vader for sure
  • Dear lord Walby should RUN to quote Bray Wyatt
  • Nasty Boys on the way.  I think this was the best version of them!
  • OH MY GOD IT IS MISSY HYATT!!!
  • Did Road Dogg get that weird ass tattoo removed or just never noticed
  • Brian has been doing well?  Really Tony?  Really?
  • Knobbs was always kind of sloppy, wasn't he?  But he looked real
  • Wait, was the LOD with WCW at this point?  I did not think so
  • I cannot wait to see Badd against Regal, two great bright points of WCW at this point
  • If there was only one wrestler I would watch for the rest of my life I think it would be Regal.  I think the most underrated performer ever
  • Notice how realistic this is.  If I was AEW I would pay Regal ANY amount of money to come in and show how to make it seem like a real fight and not a routine
  • Notice that Sir William does such subtle things yet the fans HATE him
  • Badd is underrated too.  Most people think he was a little Richard rip off and he was kind of but in the ring he was very smooth and his matches were usually very well done.
  • Huh, that was a strange finish
  • Wait...they are just cutting the post-match stuff for a Pillman segment?  Weird!
  • I know I just said I would pick Regal for the one guy to watch but Dustin Rhodes is a very close second...minus probably that TNA run
  • I love that the enhancement talents had different looks in WCW at times and not just a dude in trunks
  • I cannot wait till I get to the Clash with Regal against Dustin, that should be a hell of a match
  • Two Hall of Famers here, and great performers.  A shame both careers were cut short
  • WCW fans sure did love Sting.  Too bad WWE did not do him right
  • Wow Mean Gene looks weird here....but remember call that hotline anyway!
  • How bad was the Cactus Jack song from Slam Jam?
  • Strangely slow kind of boring match here.  Nothing bad but not what I expected from these two teams
  • I think this is why because it was going to be a screw job finish
  • Good grief that looked like a rough double DDT!
An okay show with a disappointing main event.  I would have probably had the Regal screw job at the end because it was more expected so he would keep the title.  The main event seemed rushed for some reason.  The rest of the show was good but anytime you have Regal and Rhodes on a show it is going to be good, be it 1990 or 2020!

RESULTS
  • Vader def. David Walby
  • Brian Knobbs/Jerry Sags (WCW Tag Team Champions) def. Bert styles/Brian Armstrong

A quick update from the Fat Man

I know I haven't been posting much in the way of non-wrestling reviews recently, that is because I am trying to be less negative and well the world does not support that does it?  So expect or of that and less "real" posts till I can find something enjoyable again.  I know I should do some movie reviews but when I have tried them they are just not there.  A bit of writers block perhaps.  Maybe I need to just power through and do one and break the bad mojo I do not know.  However, you will see me review the first episode of Picard in the next few days for sure.  I want to do more book reviews so I am going to try to power through the book I am currently reading and get to something I enjoy more.  Short and sweet but a brief update.

Abyssinia,

The Fat Man

Classic Wrestling Review: 1994-01-10 Monday Night Raw

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today I am checking out the next wrestling show from my journey back to 1994.  It is Raw from Jan 10th.  I am not sure much of what is going on at this time yet, other than we are on the road to the Royal Rumble.  So, and I hope this does not get me sued....lets get ready to RUMBLE!!

  • Oh Johnny Polo, I loved your character and miss it.  Even though Raven was pretty good too
  • For the titles?  THAT IS NOT FAIR!
  • IT IS THE MACHO MAN!  He is not long for the WWF world at this point, less than a year actually
  • My man Bastion Booger is on the show!  Poor Mike Shaw never had a chance, did he?
  • It is weird to think 25 years later Pierre is the ROH champion
  • Such a weird team with these two.
  • Look how young Waltman looks!  I realize its 25 years ago but wow
  • Rougeau was good in the ring, you cannot deny that....same with Marty
  • The fans still loved the Kid at this point.  When I saw him in 1995 they did not!
  • 12 days from now is one of my favourite wrestling memories at the Royal Rumble, because I love me some Owen Hart!
  • That backdrop dropkick did not look good, Marty could not get the Kid high enough for it to look good
  • Yeah, walkout guys, you have a much bigger match in 12 days!
  • Did Rougeau do the best leapfrog ever?
  • Superkick by Marty, a sign of him signing with AEW?
  • Rough fall tot he floor for Marty
  • This was my favourite version of Waltman, the Lightning Kid/1-2-3 Kid before he was no longer the underdog
  • A three-segment match in 1994?  That did not happen often that I remember
  • IRS vs. Randy Savage next week?  That is exciting!
  • What a tag move by the Quebecers, almost Total Elimination
  • Watching this match I am extremely impressed with the former Mountie.
  • One of my favourite tag team finishers!
  • Marty should have pulled the Kid to his corner!
  • I remember being shocked by these results and thinking "what about the Royal Rumble?"  Now I almost wish we had seen the Hart Brothers vs. Kid/Jannetty, that would have been a hell of a match!
  • Weird to think Borga was only around about a year in the WWF, give or take
  • I thought they were really high on them then he just disappeared after an injury
  • I miss a good ring announcer like The Fink
  • I hated good guy Doink
  • How great was Bobby selling that soaking!
  • I know some people loved this Taker, my favourite was always the Ministry
  • It is weird to see Taker in a squash match in 1994.  You did not see the top guys like that at this point much
  • HERE COMES MY MAN BOOGER!  I PICK BOOGER!
  • Oh good grief, Booger is going to end up in that cake
  • Is this the year that Bam Bam goes into the Hall of Fame?
  • Was that planned?  Or did Bigelow have him too high
  • Nope, I was wrong, it was IRS who took the cake to the face!
That was a fun show and reminded me how good the guys back then were.  They were not as athletic as the wrestlers are now but I think they were better pro wrestlers.  I bought that they were in a fight where now most look like they are dancing.  My wife, who now watches modern stuff after watching in the '80s as a kid, said wrestling is missing big guys like Booger.  It is true now guys look are the size of my 20-year-old daughter.  We are missing those massive guys like Booger and Bigelow.  Now everyone is my size which is under 6 feet.  I guess I miss those days where you had a variety of guys instead of most being the same.  I think that is why these reviews, the classics, get more views than modern stuff.  Anyway no more ranting back to this show.  I liked the longer title match and the rest being squashes.  I liked Vince and Randy as a team, they had such good chemistry.  Overall a fun show and a really good length!  Enough of this, however.  The next classic show will be WCW Power Hour from Jan 15th.  Until then....this is the Fat Man himself saying....Abyssinia!

Classic Wrestling Review: 1994-01-09 Main Event

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you have found this post.  Today I am going to try what I did a year ago and watch wrestling from 1994!  That is right back for the first week or so of shows in the archives but I am picking up where I left over, with the main event from Jan 9th.  I have no idea what is going to be on the show or who is hosting or anything so no preview today just jump into 1994 WCW...maybe my favourite time in WCW!

  • It is Tony and Larry as the hosts
  • Shockmaster, the Cole Twins, Pretty Wonderful and others today
  • For being as big as he was, Shockmaster was in pretty good shape at this point
  • However, that weird Bearhug slam thing was a horrible finisher
  • Larry is an extremely underrated announcer I think
  • This copy of the show has commercials...and they were not better back in the day!
  • See 1994 Missy Hyatt makes me wonder who would hotter in their prime, Missy or Sunny
  • Its Road Dogg and Scotty Riggs!
  • 1994 was awesome for tag teams in WCW and this team, and I mean the Pauls, were a foundation
  • What in the blue hell is Road Dogg wearing?
  • It was a weird thing to have the Assassin as the manager beyond when Orndorff was feuding with Rhodes
  • The assassin needed a bigger mask!
  • Good grief aside from Orndorff none of those guys can talk!
  • Awesome, figure skating was on after this back in 1994
  • I loved the game genie, make things SO much easier to cheat
  • I love the Godwinns/Tex Slazenger & Shanghai Pierce
  • I also thought Shanghai was a very underrated performer.  Surprised he never got a singles title run over the years
  • I think if Shanghai came along now he would be in a top spot like Baron Corbin
  • Is Zenk one of the biggest underperformers in modern wrestling?
  • My first time watching Bryant Anderson, he had a good look
  • SUPERKICK!  Obviously, the Z-Man would be a star in AEW
  • I will say Zenk was not a horrible promo, when it was kept short
  • This was as Steve Austin started to find that "attitude"
  • It is also weird to think in about a year Austin was gone from WCW I believe
  • STUN GUN!  I loved that move, I feel like Austin should have used that more in his WWF run
A good show with some good action on it.  As I said above I loved this time in WCW especially their tag teams.  Saw several of them on this show but throw in the Nasty Boys and Harlem Heat and you had one hell of a tag team division!  Then you have the singles division with Rude, Rhodes, Austin, Vader, Sting, Flair, Pillman and Arn along with others at the top and middle of the card I love this time in WCW!  The next classic review will be of the Jan 10th episode of Raw so stay tuned!  Until next time, this is the fat man himself saying....Abyssinia!

Classic Wrestling Review: 1995-01-01 WCW Main Event

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today we are going back to 1995, New Years day and watching some WCW action!  Starrcade just happened and we saw the debut of Randy Savage in WCW.  The Butcher, of all people, was in the main event of the show!  Our hosts are Bobby Heenan and Mean Gene!  This is going to be a recap show most likely but lets go at it!
  • Love that Bobby was "Hungover"
  • Interactive TV, an idea before its time!
  • How many times do you think Sting fought Ric Flair?  1000?  2000?
  • Here comes the Hulkster....brother!
  • This is NOT fair to Flair!!
  • Tony Schiavone is at his best at this point I think.  94-99. Then came Russo....
  • What was the deal with Stingers hair at this point?  It has to be two inches tall!
  • Hogan is enjoying giving this "fan" an atomic drop!
  • I love the old Flair clip of the knee
  • This was the weird version of Hogan where he was leaner and just did not look right in my opinion
  • HE HIT BUTCHER WITH A CHAIR IN THE FACE!  DEAR LORD HE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED TO BUTCHERS FACE YEARS AGO!!
  • Is that Brad Armstrong in the background?
  • I miss Vader in the ring.  Can you imagine if Vince would have really got behind him in 1996.  He could have been one of the biggest stars WWF ever had!
  • Dear lord how hot was Sherri!!!
  • How many times did these teams fight?
  • CLUBBERING!!!!!  FOUR FISTES ON ONE HEAD!!!
  • I could watch Sherri sneak ALL DAY LONG!
  • I always hated the Nastys as good guys.  Just didn't fit to have them selling and doing hot tags and such
  • How amazing was the Harlem Hangover?  For a man the size of Booker T to do it was a sight to see
  • I always liked the tag division back in 1994-1996 with Stars and Stripes, Nastys, Heat, Pretty Wonderful, Sullivan and Cactus, Sullivan and Evad, Bagwell and Scorpio, Steiners, LOD, Sting & Luger and many others
  • Watching these old shows makes me wonder who some of these guys are not in the HoF.  Tenta, Vader and Sullivan to name a few.  Yet Koko B. Ware and Brutus are?!  Nothing against those guys but Tenta, Vader and Sullivan are as deserving and Vader and Sullivan more so in my opinion.  But hey at least we get Batista this year!
  • Think about it, Tenta was 42 when he passed in 2006.  He could still be wrestling now!  FUCK YOU CANCER!
  • I know people hate 1994 WCW but I LOVE IT!  Maybe it is the nostalgia it but it was fun for me
  • Is Bobby Eaton the most underrated wrestler of all time?
  • Dustin Rhodes vs. Bobby Eaton?  YES PLEASE!
  • Dustin is still the highlight of any show he is on 25 years later!  He is the reason to turn into AEW.
  • What is great is that these two can WRESTLE!
  • At this point, I think it is basically a face vs. face match.  Eaton was a heel with Corny and Paul E. but the rest of the time he was basically just a wrestler.  Went out and did it as good as anyone ever
  • Three more guys here that should be in the HoF, Eaton, Rhodes and Darsow.
  • Seriously why in the hell is Demolition not in the HoF?  I know they sued Vince but come on Demolition was awesome!
  • Oh wait, Eaton was a heel with Regal as the Blue Bloods who I forgot to mention above in the tag teams
  • Their segment when they found the OJ knife was classic!
  • Dusty Rhodes and Larry Zbyszko were great announcers, throw in Gordan Soile and it shows that WCW had great talent at this time in and out of the ring
  • I love that Dustin missed that punch.  I do not know if it was intentional or not but I like that it looked like a fight and not a dance like so much of wrestling today
  • BOBBY IS GOING TO FLY!
  • SLOW COUNT NICK PATRICK!!
  • Also I like that the bulldog came out of nowhere
A nice recap show with an excellent Rhodes vs. Eaton match.  You have Bobby Heenan and Mean Gene as hosts who were fantastic together.  Not much to talk about as it was just a recap of a few matches in 1994.  Also highlighted the next big feud of Hogan and Vader.  I feel like this is when WCW started to turn around and then 18 months later the nWo came and watch out!
