NXT for 10-31-12 Review

To continue with my wrestling goodness I will review what is usually the best show of the week, the former FCW, NXT!

There are a lot of good talent down in NXT right now.  Michael McGillicutty has really good matches as does Richie Steamboat, Ricky Steamboat's son, Seth Rollins and others.  If you want really good wrestling and great announcing usually check it out.

We start off with the Usos, I have a feeling of dejavu for some reason.  They are taking on the team of Michael McGillicutty and Johnny Curtis.  I like both of them but Curtis is doing some really weird dancing as he is coming out.  William Regal is announcing...and that is a good thing!  The fans love the Usos and they also love the "CHA" sound that McGillicutty does often in the ring.  Wow McGillicutty just threw a Mr. Perfect dropkick.  So far I like this team quite a bit but that also might be because I don't like the Usos.  I will say the Usos always have a lot of energy though and it is sorta contagious but I still hate the yelling of "US".  Game over and the Usos win with the Headshrinker dive.

Next we have Xavier Woods, formerly Consequences Creed of TNA, taking on Leo Kruger.  Xavier and R-Truth would make a great team, both full of energy and that dancing Eddie from Tekken type wrestler.  Kruger is doing a big game hunter gimmick that has a little of the old Mankind I hurt myself to feel something as well and is an okay wrestler.  Wow the announcer with Regal just used Ruthless Aggression, haven't heard that in years!  Nothing big here as Kruger gets a win with a modified faceslam out of a neckbreaker position.  He is an interesting character but I think they are missing the boat on Xavier.

They do a video on Big E Langston who is doing the old King Kong Bundy gimmick of wanting a 5 count.  We then get an interview where Byron Saxton talks to Langston.  Not a great interview, they should just have him beat people up.  This interview is about the number 5.  GOOD GRIEF IT IS VICKI GUERRERO!  She is recruiting and after proudly admitting she is a cougar says they can make each other very happy.  Langston does a weird clap thing and powder comes out, could have done with out that whole thing.

Next up is Jindar Mahal, who was defeated in the finals of the NXT title tournament a few months ago, losing to Seth Rollins.  This is already better than the Three Man Bad interview on Raw as he demands a rematch for the title but instead we get Justin Gabriel.  Nice to see the guys who don't get a chance on WWE TV get action here but it should be about the up and comers in my opinion.  Fans want to see Seth and Justin and here comes Drew McIntyre, who has beat Seth.  Now out comes Bo Dallas, son of WWE Legend IRS.   Finally the Son of a Plumber Dusty Rhodes comes out.  Wow the Big Dream has lost quite a bit of weight which is good.  Next week we get a Four way which was a shocker of an announcement.

Time for CJ Parker taking on Roman Reigns.  This is Reigns debut so the finish isn't in doubt.  Reigns is the former Leakee in FCW and son of WWE Hall of Famer Sika.  He is a former football player as well.  He could be a star given the right chances.  CJ got in a little offense but in the end Reigns hit back suplex into a Rock Bottom type move.  I've seen the move before but not sure what to call it.  I'll call it the Reign of Terror for now.

Main event time for the US Title.  Tyson Kidd taking on Antonio Cesaro.  JR joins William Regal for what I think is the best announce team around right now!  They need better music for Antonio, something that fits his persona.  Lance Storm gets a shout out from William Regal about training Kidd.  Lots of power moves by Cesaro only for Kidd to counter.  These guys always have good matches.  Kidd really should be used better but he is just a bit too small I think and lacks that "it" factor.  Kidd is getting in a ton of offense and high flying moves.  He gets better every time I see him and the fans are behind him.  I love the big flapjack European uppercut move which sets up the Neutralizer and Cesaro retains the title.  That is it for NXT this week.

Thoughts:

All good stuff, well minus the Big E interview.  Easily the best show of this week unless ROH can pull out a kick ass show.

If you want great wrestling and logic NXT does it every week.

One guy I am surprised we don't see down in NXT is Ted DiBiase.  They are really missing the boat with this guy.

Until next time, This is the Fat Man signing off.
