Raw 11-19-12

Good even frieds.  I missed the opening segment due to satellite issues but it was all about Ryback destroying Tensai and calling out the NXT guys who attacked him.

Wade Barrett and  Kofi Kingston had a match against each other.  The crowd is into Kofi when he comes out but that is about it.  Kids love him then but then it is pretty quiet.  Barrett is basically dominating him.  Perhaps Kofi will never take that final step to true superstar.  I think Barrett will get a second IC title run sooner rather than later.  The story of the match was that Barrett injured Kofi's eye and that led to him finally hitting the Bullhammer Elbow and the win.

I thought the Brad Maddox storyline was over but we are getting a video package about it so perhaps not.

Paul Heyman is walking around with a CM Punk picture for his 1 year title reign party and Punk is wearing a "I'm a Paul Heyman Guy".  Matt Striker asks about the NXT guys attacking and Punk threatens to hurt him.  Heyman, being the slimy guy he is, says this is a celebration and everyone is invited, even Ryback.  Punk is confused and it is commercial time.  Heyman is one of the best and is perfect in this slimy scumy used car salesmen type character!

Kaitlyn is taking on Aksana and I already wish this was over.  These two are NOT ready for this.  They both need a true ring general in the ring like Natalya to make a good match.  This wasn't as bad as I expected but not what TV needs for the divas.

Really a 2 out of 3 falls match between Randy Orton and Alberto Del Rio?  This feud has been going on for months and I don't think Alberto has won a match of it.  Meaning he'll win this WWE will expect us to believe he is the better guy.

Here comes Brodus Clay and he is taking on Antonio Cesaro.  Brodus should get the win here but since Vince McMahon has soured on Brodus plus R-Truth is at ringside so that feud looks to be continuing.  Apparently Truth and Little Jimmy are fighting.  A spinning uppercut from the middle ropes and Antonio gets the Neutralizer for the win.  Brodus better figure out a way to get back in the good graces of Vinnie or he is going to continue to be Jobber Clay.

We get a really nice John Cena/make a wish video package.  Cena has granted 300 wishes.  Like him as a wrestler or not he is a great man who does great things for kids who who don't deserve what is happening to him.  Honestly getting a little choked up seeing that.

Yay it is time for As the Ring Turns, the AJ Lee saga.  Vicki Guerrero is in the ring and I don't care.  I really don't.  We are now getting eye witnesses.  Seriously enough WWE.  Good grief they now have Cena and AJ swapping spit in the ring.  AJ is now basically jumping Cena in the ring.  If that is what you get for granting 300 wishes let me start!  Dolph Ziggler attacks Cena and runs and it looks like Cena screwed up his ankle as he sorta skips after Dolph.

Time for yet another match between Alberto and Randy Orton.  I don't care about this match because they haven't given me a reason to believe that Alberto can beat Randy or hardly anyone to be honest.  They just had Alberto get DQ'ed.  Now if they had Alberto just destroy him with a chair and then get the next fall right away it would make sense but it was just for punching his shoulder while around the ring post.  Whatever.  The creative/booking is just horrible 9 out of 10 times anymore.  It makes no sense for a supposedly smart man like Alberto to do that.  Also its been 3 minutes and Orton is no longer selling it.  Alberto struggled for a few second before locking in the Crossarm breaker for the tap out and we are 1 fall all around.  Orton is back to selling the arm, I guess because he isn't looking for the crowd to cheer him at the moment.  Ricardo interferes and is thrown out.  Alberto gets a near fall off a backstabber.  Alberto goes for the RKO and Orton is able to block it with his injured arm and is even pounding on the mat like usual.  Alberto blocks it and gets the armbreaker on but Orton rolled him up and nearly got pinned.  He misses the enziguri in the corner and Orton with the RKO and that is it.  Alberto Del Jobber does the JOB again to Orton.  Why should I believe that Alberto can beat anyone?

I like the shirt Michael Cole is wearing.  I am trying to find something to talk about because we are getting a recap of 7 seconds in heaven.  Wait, there is a reason for it as they talk about his injured knee, or so it seems as he is getting it taped up in the back.  Not a good sign if they are having to change things on the fly.

We are half way through and this is a decent show.  The matches, not the booking but the in ring work, has been good to really good.  The angles, well AJ is really good looking and we'll leave it at that.  I really wish they would put a fan or two on the booking committee.  Why?  Because fans know what fans want to see.  If not the committee may be a few consultants like Heyman was years ago.  On a recent Legends Roundtable they talked about how there were 9 million people watching the Stooges fight the Mean Street Posse.  Now they get a 3rd of that.  This is a perfect example of what shouldn't be on TV!

Epico and Primo taking on The Great Khali and then Hornswaggle makes his return and is flirting with Rosa Mendes with flowers which end up being joker flowers which spray water.  Khali with the brainchop and double chokeslam and that is it thankfully.  However what is that dreck doing on Raw?  You have Saturday Morning Slam for stuff like this and it is perfect for a kids show but on your flagship show I think not.  Also I now could care even less, if possible, about Epico and Primo.

Heyman freaks out in the back when he finds out there aren't any ballons for the celebration later tonight.

Miz is up next and taking on David Otunga.  Otunga looks amazing but reminds me of the old saying, million dollar body ten cent skills (yes I paraphrased that).  Otunga, given the time, might be able to be a solid performer.  Thus far he is controlling this match and hasn't looked bad.  The newly turned Miz is not getting much of a reaction from the crowd thus far.  Miz gets the win in a match that won't do anything to get him over as a good guy.

Sheamus comes out with a chair, we saw what he did to The Big Show at the PPV before the break, and he is talking about the feud.  Sheamus calls out Show, even though he is suppose to be facing Damien Sandow.  Show comes out limping after his beating last night.  Sheamus has the chair from last night and it is quite dented.  Finally Damien comes out and he is about to get destroyed.  Why feed Damien to Sheamus?  Again the booking makes no sense!  Damien and Sheamus had a good match a few weeks ago and this isn't quite as good as it has been mostly Sheamus dominating the match.  After the break Damien is starting to have a better showing.  I think I'm in a bad mood because this match has been much better then I'm giving it credit.  Sheamus really doesn't have bad matches, none that I can remember off the top of my head.  Sheamus gets the win with the Brogue Kick which was to be expected unless Show interfered.  Damien looked good but honestly this didn't really help Damien any in the long run.

AJ is in the back with Tamina Snuka and Vicki in her office.  We get the awesome crowd watching things shot and Tamina is quite bigger than AJ.   Really a pointless segment as AJ is going to do something now that Cena is hurt since Vicki won't.  Yeah makes no sense to me at the moment either.

Layla tries to convince AJ not to go into the locker room but she does to confront Dolph.  Dolph basically cuts her down because she pathetic.  Actually a decent promo cutting her down but I don't see where it is going.  He calls her trash and she is about to cry.  She then starts pounding Dolph and Cena pulls her off.  Dolph hits Cena's knee and spears him through a bathroom stall and continues the attack.  Now I wonder if the injury is a work or not which is a good thing.  Very good segment and Dolph seems to have picked up steam the last two days.  Keep him serious and give him some wins and he will mean something as the fans are already behind him.  I have no faith in creative but it is possible.

Cena was taken to the trainers room during the break according to Josh Matthews.  I am really interested in finding out if Cena is really injured or not.  Titus O'Neil and Darren Young are at ringside as Sin Cara and Rey Misterio are going to take on my favorite team going, Team Hell No, Kane and Daniel Bryan.  Interesting to see where they go with this as Team Hell No have started to physically fight between themselves in the last week or so, where in the past it was just verbal arguing.  The fans erupt into YES chants.  Titus just asked what happened at Survivor Series has to do with this match and that is a good point.  Titus isn't great thus far on the mic but he is trying and I will say again I see dollar signs with Titus.  Way too much Masked Duo's in charge in this match for my taste.  During the break Kane nearly kicked Cara's head off!  Good grief they are talking about hair care and wash cloth/rag.  Titus is barely able to not laugh at this conversation but there is a match happening.  Darren Young just asked if they could focus on the match!  They are having fun out there but those of us at home aren't.  In the ring Kane and Rey Rey are going at it and Kane takes the 619 and went for the top rope splash but Kane caught him by the throat.  the PTP hit the ring as Kane was going for the Chokeslam.  Sadly even after a 10 minute match they two teams can take care of the PTP.  Not a good way to build up the team.  I really think the fans could get behind these guys, the crowd last night cheered them.

I can't give justice to Heyman tearing into the crowd.  It was perfect!  I love that Heyman also just tells facts and people hate that he does it.  Much like Chris Jericho used to do.  Why does Punk still have that stupid ass spinner belt?  That is my question!  Heyman is "crying" in the ring, it is awesome!  Punk just called The Rock Dewey...awesome!  We now get a pretty cool Punk video package.  They do a shot over the shoulder of Punk and Heyman, the one time that show makes sense. July 25th, 2018, is when Punk will become the longest reigning champion in history.  I would love that to happen!  Sadly in January at the Royal Rumble Punk is probably going to lose to Dewey.  Ryback is on his way to the ring and Team NXT attack him.  This time however Ryback is throwing them around.  Way to put these guys over by having Ryback stand up to all three.  They put Ryback through the announce table for a second night in a row.  Punk goes over and holds the title up with a foot on Ryback.

That is it folks.  A decent show folks.  Until next time, Abyssinia!
