Smackdown 11-16-12 Review

It is Friday Night and there is a no better place to be than right here watching WWE Smackdown!

We are "live" from Cleveland and we see that Sheamus is pacing in the back waiting for The Big Show.  We then go to the ring where Cleveland's own Miz is hosting MizTV.  His guest tonight is Hardcore Legend Mick Foley and we have cheap pops around.  Foley talked about his new book where Miz is the main character.  Mick asks which Miz will show up and we get some Really's from Miz.

That is a legit question.  Miz can be very good when he wants to be but when the company is burying him he phones it in.

Mick then brings out the rest of his team so we can have a team meeting.

It is an interesting team.  If they had kept Miz heel it would be like the Wild Card match years ago, which I liked by the way.  I would like to see that brought back actually.  Or have them go back to all Survivor Series matches and have the winners face off in a match like in 1990 but I don't see that happening.

Kane and Daniel Bryan argue with who will start.  As I've said week in and week out they are awesome.  Kane talks about teaming with Miz and how his back is better from not having to carry Daniel.  Miz and Kofi Kingston nearly come to blows and Randy Orton says he doesn't like anyone on the team or trust them.  Out comes Dolph Ziggler and starts mouthing off.  Alberto Del Rio isn't paying attention and soon they are arguing over who is team leader.

Cody Rhodes is not on the stage and probably won't be at the PPV due to the injury on The Main Event.  It is being reported on pwinsider.com, which if you are a wrestling fan you should join their elite site, that Tensai will be replacing Cody on the PPV.  An interesting choice to say the least!  A guy we haven't seen on TV for weeks will get on the PPV.  I personally would use it to debut someone or re-debut someone.  Maybe Michael McGillicutty talking about how they are both second (or third) generation and that is the only way he would replace himself, not with just anybody, but what do I know.

Foley got Booker T's permission to make matches if Dolph agrees who does.  So it'll be Miz and Orton again Del Rio and Ziggler.  We'll also see Kane take on Wade Barrett and Damien Sandow take on Kofi and it will be next

I personally would book Sandow to win this match and actually all the heels to win.  Then have some videos on the website of both teams talking.  The heels as a group and the faces arguing about team work.

Kofi is an interesting guy.  I don't know why I don't like him but something is missing.  He seems to always be a step away from being a star.  I don't know what is holding him back, besides the creative team I mean.  They need to add one last ingredient and he could be huge!  Damien has everything just needs time.  Some people don't like the guy who is smart and tells everyone they are dumb as a character but I do.  Maybe it is because I agree with him when he says how dumb the average person is.

I like that they have Damien be smart in his matches and avoid people's finishers.  He just escaped the ring because Kofi was doing his boom thing setting up the Trouble in Paradise.  Damien with a roll up and the win!  I think within a year we will see Sandow with a singles title.

Good grief now we get the weekly AJ Lee recap.  Go read my Raw recap because I can't do it again.

We now have NatalyaKaitlyn and Layla taking on Eve Torres, Aksana and Alicia Fox.  Nice to see other divas get a change to be on TV.  I don't care about this match but it is nice to see them get more than 2 minutes for a match.  Kaitlyn pins Alicia Fox in a match no one cared about and only went a few more minutes than 2 sadly.

Booker is in the back and kicks Sheamus out of the parking area.  Booker begs The Ginger Demon, my nickname for him by the way, to keep his cool tonight if/when Show shows up.  Booker is not good in this role.  Take him out of it and put Teddy Long back as GM!  Time for the tag team match set up earlier.

I am not sure about this match.  You can't have the newly turned Miz lose a match yet Alberto and Dolph really need to get a win here.  Neither have really won a match in a while that I remember.  Maybe Alberto beat Kofi but really both have been on losing streaks.  Hell Dolph got his ass knocked down by AJ on Raw!  This match has been okay but much like Raw sure doesn't feel like the go home show for the PPV, one of the biggest of the year.  Survivor Series is the second longest running PPV for the company behind only Wrestlemania.  Orton makes a tag by shoving Miz in the chest.  Dolph has been getting worked on for several minutes and is suddenly acting like the match just started.  I wish guys would sell things for just a few minutes.  It is such a lost art and it is because so many guys who could do have passed on.  Brad Armstrong and Mr. Perfect comes to mind as they were two of the best.  This show has only been on for an hour?  Feels a lot longer than that!  Miz with the Skull Crushing Finale and the win after tagging himself in.  Orton is not happy and will we see an RKO?  Yes we will and do!  I thought Randy was going to do that last week to Kofi and it is the Miz who eats it.  I like it!  I hate that the bad guys had to lose to see that but such is life.  No one believes Dolph can win a match.

I think I've said it before but for some reason I like the weird little kid voiced Subway commercials.

Can someone explain to me the appeal of watching this Blackout show on Syfy?  I don't get it.

Here comes Sheamus boys and girls!  Next out is Show and he is scared of Sheamus, of what he will do to Sheamus....wait what?  Sheamus is about to attack show and here comes Booker.  Booker throws Sheamus out of the building and Show smiles and laughs.

Oh good grief, Syfy is doing ANOTHER Dungeon and Dragons movie.  Those in the past have been horrible!

Show acts like he and Booker are best friends and Book tells him he is in the main event against a mystery man.  Show asks if it Sheamus and it isn't but remember "no one is bigger than the show" Booker tells him and Show looks worried.

The Kane/Barrett match doesn't even get out of first gear as Team Ziggler, minus Cody, come out to destroy Kane.  Here comes D-Bry and it is four on two.  Mick comes out calling the troops out and Kofi is out but Team Foley is still out numbered.  Here comes Randy but only after his music is played.  Miz comes out and stares at Orton in the ring.

More Raw recap is up next as it is our weekly make CM Punk look week moment.  I won't rant and rave about it because there is no point.

R-Truth is on his way to the ring.  He has Antonio Cesaro at the PPV who is in action against Sin Cara.  I don't get this match at all.  I also don't see why Cara isn't on the PPV.  They could throw another Survivor Series match on the show.  Maybe on the Pre-Show which right now is a tag match.  I am really tired of the backdrop in the corner and the guy landing on the apron.  I think just about every match has it anymore.  I love the backdrop into the European Uppercut by Antonio.  Why have him defeated Cara?  This was perfect for a Zach Ryder or Santino Marella.

Who is the Big Show going to face?  OH GOOD GRIEF IT IS KHALI!  Seriously it is The Great Khali.  Show looks worried, but why?  Khai is a giant jobber.  This is already bowling shoe ugly.  Show is overselling the corner chops of Khali.  Why can't Sheamus come running out already to save us from this.  Hell where is Chris Jericho and his saviour of the WWE gimmick!  Make it stop!  Okay it hasn't been THAT bad but it hasn't been good.  Khali just got a two count with his horrible head chop.  Show hit the WMD and it is over.  But honestly how could you miss that chin!  Throw Sgt. Slaughter and pre-surgery Chyna in that ring and it'd be all chin.  Here comes Sheamus, shock of shocks and I bet through the crowd.  Wait, maybe it is just his music.  No Sheamus and Show is cautiously walking out.  Oh they are showing Show leaving and here comes Matt Striker to try and interview Show.  Striker is sent running when Show acts like he is going to attack him and Sheamus attack.  Show fights back and throws Sheamus onto the hood of a car and into the windshield.  Show tries to leave but Sheamus with a tackle off the car and Show into a windshield!  Here comes refs and security.  Much like on Raw the champion is left laying on the go home show.  I don't like it but I loved the brawl.  That is it for Smackdown.  Until next time, Abyssinia!

Results:

Damien Sandow defeated Kofi Kingston
Kaitlyn/Natalya/Layla defeated Aksana/Eve Torress/Alicia Fox
Miz/Randy Orton defeated Alberto Del Rio/Dolph Ziggler
Kane and Wade Barrett went to a no contest
Antonio Cesaro defeated Sin Cara
