Podcast as a blog

Below is basically what my first podcast said. It is NOT a transcript as I wrote the blog first and then recorded (and re-re-re-re-re-re-recorded) the podcast. I think I'll continue doing them once a week or so as I think it could be interesting if I do it on the right topic at the right time...or if the old angry Fat Man visits for a day!

This is an update to the firefighter story from a few days ago. I found this story on theblaze.com I believe. As I've said before I try to listen to Glenn Beck and any talk radio show when possible. I have to say I am SHOCKED that Glenn Beck says that this policy is like Obamacare.

I agree with Glenn on some things and other I think he is flipping nuts on. On this I think it is nuts. First off his co-host or whatever this guy Pat is mocked this gentleman. That in itself is wrong and personally I believe is EXTREMELY wrong. If you disagree with his that is fine but you don't mock a person who just lost EVERYTHING in his life.

He makes this sound like it is social justice. That is NOT the case as I see. Yes there is emotion involved here. I am now an emotional guy after years of not being but I do still use logic when I make any decision. I am sorry but logic says you save the house. Glenn makes this sound like it is fire insurance. Fire Insurance is for AFTER you have a fire, it is there in case you LOSE everything in a fire. My car insurance isn't there to STOP a car accident it is there for AFTER an accident. My health insurance doesn't STOP me from getting sick it is there to help AFTER I get sick.

As I said the other day I find this sick. Now on Beck's show they point out that before the 75 dollar fee there was NO fire coverage in that area. HUH? No fire coverage in an rural area? That makes no since. Does that mean those people don't pay taxes?

I lived in the middle of nowhere Michigan for 8 or so years. I saw a fire happen a few houses away from my grandparents place and you know what, they came out. Now maybe they had to pay a fee I don't know and I'll have to ask next time I talk to them. However isn't that part of taxes?

I've never been a homeowner and I could be completely wrong but you pay taxes when your a homeowner I believe. I always thought those taxes went to pay for things like the police and the fire services.

Let me say that I understand what Glenn and his asshole co-host were saying. He didn't pay the fee so he doesn't get the service. If I don't pay for the power it gets shut off. If I don't pay for my phone it gets shut off. I really do understand their point. They point out that if the fire department HAD put out the fire the next year why would ANYONE pay the fee. I understand that. I see their point and they are using logic there so I thought about that.

They have excellent points. All their points are correct and I can't argue with that and if we were strictly logical beings they are right, but we aren't Vulcan's.

Okay here is something else as I will veer off topic for a second. Glenn on his show is now talking being a beacon. Being a shining light. How do you go from you didn't pay 75 dollars so you lose everything to telling his listeners to be shining lights for others. Were those firefighters being beacons of light? Does he honestly believe that God wanted that man's house to burn down and for that man to suffer? If he meant what he was saying about being a shining light had ONE firefighter fought that fire HE would have been a beacon. For the record I don't blame the firefighters as they would have lost their jobs but what a beacon that one man would have been.

Now I don't know what I would have done in that case. I want to say that I would have told the fire chief to suck my dick and would have tried to put that fire out but I don't know. Would I risk my job for what is right? Again I want to say I would but I really don't know. I am not a good person. I don't think I've ever said that I was because I'm not. I know right from wrong when I see however. What was done to those people in Tennessee was wrong and there is no way around it.

The last point I want to make is this. They just had a caller in on the show that basically said what I said about taxes and Glenn had a good point that I don't know if this county was set up this way. I don't know how it is either. I wonder if the police department is the same way. I mean the argument is that he didn't pay because his taxes didn't go the city. Does that mean the police don't go out there either?

There are a lot of things unclear about this the more I write about it but no matter what for firefighters to watch as a person's home and all their belongs burn is wrong from a human stand point. As much as I hate say this maybe I am actually human...I think I threw up a little in my mouth saying that.

As I write this I am contemplating making this my first podcast. Maybe I'll record it, listen to it, and see what I think. I already have several other blogs in mind. One on the bullying issue that is going on in America causing young people to commit suicide. With all these heavy topics I also want to do something lighter so I want to do a blog on the new TV Season.
