Zombie Diaries Movie Review

I finally got a chance to see Zombie Diaries and for all the hype I remember hearing this was quite disappointing.  The flick isn’t over yet and I am writing my review if that tells you something.

It is about a virus that turns people into zombies, although like most zombie flicks that dreaded word isn’t used.  There are several POV diaries in it and I can’t even tell if they are linked in any way.

The characters are hard to follow and none of them stand out.  I think this dude Goke us in each group but I’m not sure.  Now suddenly we are going to a month earlier, maybe from the original group.  I have no clue what is going on.

The idea of the flick is cool, a bunch of “diaries” after a virus outbreak.  However they really needed to do a better job of establishing characters before jumping around.

The acting is horrible as well.  I assume I could get a bunch of high school and college “actors” and do as well as this film.  The make-up was okay but again I bet I have friends who could do as well.

I really don’t have anything good to say about the flick.  Wait, yes I do.  They added fly buzzing around the zombies and that made sense to me.  There we go not all negative.

I think now the Goke dude is some kind of sicko and is killing the people or leaving them for the zombies or raping and then killing them.  I don’t know.  I am not going to keep trying with this.  This flick is getting turned off.  Sorry but this is not a good flick at all.  I say skip this.  0 out of 5 stars folks.  Just horrible!

WWE Main Event for 10-31-12 Review

The main event just finished up and here are my thoughts as the show happened:

The show starts off with info about Brad Maddox, the ref show screwed Ryback at Hell in the Cell.  He will be questioned at WWE HQ tomorrow.  They talk a bit about his past saying he failed to become a superstar/wrestler and became a ref when Raw went three hours.  Maddox was seen down in FCW/NXT and is actually not a bad performer.  It will be interesting to see where this goes.  And now it is time for our main event…to open the show.  It will be the Prime Time Players and Albert Del Rio, sans an awesome car here taking on The Masked Duo (my name for them) Rey Misterio, Sin Cara and Randy Orton.

If WWE is serious about Sin Car and Rey Misterio being a team they need to give them a team name, team music and entrance.  Also, as much as I hated them, they need to go back to the half and half masks.

Thus far this has spanned two breaks, maybe they are going to have one match last the entire show minus the recap of HitC and the Alberto segment.  It has been an okay match but I just can’t get behind the face team.

Titus just threw Rey Rey by the heel which was pretty impressive!

Surprisingly it seems to be Alberto as the weak link on the heel team.

Alberto eats a 619 and then an RKO for the pinfall loss.  Again surprised that it was Alberto taking the pinfall and not one of the PTP.

It is time for your teacher and mine, Matt Striker, to interview the victors.   Why he isn’t sitting in the announce booth is beyond me.

Randy looks like a giant in the ring with the other three

Josh Mathews interviews the PTP who say they will be tag champs at Wrestlemania and then Alberto threatened Orton so it seems that feud will continue.

Next up it is time for As the Raw Turns aka the Vicki/AJ/Cena storyline.  I won’t recap as it makes me sad.  Only good thing is seeing the smoking AJ.

Next up Wade Barrett to take on Tyson Kidd.  Remember him, he was about ready to get a major push back at Money in the Bank.  Wonder who wins this one?  My guess is Kidd gets a Souvenir.

Looks like may be they will be going with Sheamus and Wade Barrett.  His thick accent makes it hard to understand him sometimes.  Here comes the Ginger Demon (I’ll let the WWE use that if they want) and he is all jolly which I hate.

Next week it is Sheamus and Wade Barrett.  Really?  The crowd is “What”ing Wade.  Really?

My Random Thoughts:

I might be in the minority but I really like Darren Young.  Something about him that if given the chance I think can be a great hand for WWE in the future.  I don’t see him as a World Champion but he can be a solid midcard guy.  However I think they need to build the tag division around the Prime Time Players (PTP).  I think they are really jelling as a team and have the IT factor.  Alberto on the other hand I just don’t see it and never have.  As for the face team, I have no opinion.  Orton is a two striker, meaning he has two strikes against him as far as wellness violations, so I don’t see them giving him a title run and if they do it should be short.  Same with Rey Rey and Sin Cara just hasn’t connected with fans.

Wade Barrett is on the cusp but as long as they have guys like Randy Orton defeat him over and over again he will stay there.  Not sure if he can be a top star but worth giving him a chance as they don’t have anyone else up there.

If you read my entry about sportsmanship it applies to Sheamus.  He is all jolly and making jokes about the English and the Scottish four days after losing his title.  Not a fan of this version of Sheamus.

Results:

Rey Misterio/Sin Cara/Randy Orton. Defeated Prime Time Players (Titus O’Nell/Darren Young)/Albert Del Rio

Wade Barrett Defeated Tyson Kidd

Sportsmanship is overrated

Last night the NBA season started.  What?  You didn't know or care?  Me neither to be completely honest but something happened that I wanted to talk about.  Ray Allen left the beloved Boston Celtics during the off season and went to the hated Miami Heat.  Allen is an older player and wants a title or another title, I don't know if he has won one and I don't care enough to look it up, that isn't the point of this.  Yes there is a point!

The two teams played in their season opener last night.  At some point during the game, I believe before, Allen went over to shake the hands of his former team and Garnett didn't shake his hand.

OH MY FLIPPING LORD!  WHAT A BABY!  HORRIBLE SPORTSMANSHIP!  HE SHOULD BE HUNG!  HE SHOULD BE SHOT!  HE SHOULD BE HUNG AND SHOT!

Yes I am being sarcastic.  He did what I would do.  He did what as a fan I want him to do.  When you are playing a PROFESSIONAL sport you are going out to war.  Those 9 other men or 11 or 5 or however many people are on the rink in hockey, they are the enemy.  They are out to destroy you and your teammates.  Why shake their hands?

But what about the kids Gene.  WHO WILL THINK ABOUT THE KIDS!  Not me that is for sure.  Okay seriously they aren't kids.  Even as a kid I never understood the hand shaking thing.  I'm not saying to go punch them in the face but win or lose I don't want to shake the enemies hand.

This was talked about on Mike and Mike and everyone was against Garnett but Greeny.  He agreed with my thoughts and brought up that 15 minutes after a game you can't tell who won or lost in an NBA locker room and that is why I don't follow most sports.  When you've got 100+ games who cares about one or even 10 games.  That is why I love the NFL, one game can make or break you.

Now I am not saying that I want dirty play but this whole being nice after a team kicks my ass is stupid.  The only thing I want is another chance to play them and not lose.  So I say this pre and post game sportsmanship is OVERRATED!

Monday Night Raw review for 10/29

Tonight WWE started its build to the 26th annual Survivor Series.  The main event was set up as a traditional 5 on 5 elimination match.  It was set up between Mick Foley and CM Punk.  The teams are CM Punk/Alberto Del Rio/The Miz/Cody Rhodes/Damian Sandow vs. Ryback/Kane/Daniel Bryan/Kofi Kingston/Randy Orton.  Should be interesting but I would have liked to see a little more of a build up on the teams.  Once Team Punk was announced Team Foley was pretty clear and honestly a bit of a let down.  I don't like seeing Alberto, Miz, Kofi or Orton on the team.  They haven't been booked as main eventers.  I would have liked to see Sheamus and Big Show involved.  However if they make them both captains of their own teams I'm okay.  Even though it goes against what I just said I would have liked to see new blood given a chance.  Maybe The Prime Time Players given a chance instead of Team Rhodes Scholars or something like that.  Even better leave the teams out completely and have a tag elimination like days of old.

The storyline between Vicki Guerrero and AJ Lee continued.  AJ was hired back and put into a match with Beth Phoenix.  AJ pulled the upset but the match was restarted and Beth won.  Later in the show however Beth was fired for not doing her job.  This of course was because Beth is leaving the company.  Not a great way to send out a classy diva and hopefully after she recharges her batteries and Edge has recovered from his neck surgery she returns.

Tonight also had what I think is the worst ever segment in the 1014 episodes of Raw.  The 3 Man Band , Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre, had a "Behind the Music" segment.  It was the worst thing ever.  These three should not EVER be given a mic again.  Seriously I think Mae Young giving birth to a hand was better.

Other noteworthy notes:

  • Jerry Lawler returns in two weeks after his Heart Attack
  • John Cena and Vicki Guerrero went back and forth and it looks like we are heading toward Cena and Ziggler
  • WWE donated $1 Million dollars to Susan G. Komen cancer research
  • Sheamus and The Big Show had a show down and Sheamus hit White Noise on Show to continue their feud

Results:

  • Ryback defeated JTG
  • Randy Orton defeated Wade Barrett
  • Team Hell No (Kane/Daniel Bryan) defeated The Prime Time Players (Darren Young/Titus O'Nell)
  • Kofi Kingston defeated Antonio Cesaro
  • The 3 Man Band (Mahal/Slater) defeated Team Co-Bro (Zach Ryder/Santino Marella)
  • Team Rhodes Scholar (Damien Sandow/Cody Rhodes) defeated Rey Misterio/Sin Cara
  • Alberto Del Rio defeated Justin Gabriel

Overall an okay show with some good actoin.  Orton and Barrett was okay and the Rhodes Scholar and Masked Duo match was really good.  However the Three Man Band segment pretty much left a really bad taste in my mouth.  Even JR said it might be the worst interview in Raw history.  I will return with a review of the Main Event Wednesday night where Randy Orton teams with Misterio and Cara to take on the Prime Time Players and Alberto.

Paranormal Activity 4

I finally saw Paranormal Activity 4, a week after it was released.  As many of you know the first PA is one of my favorite movies.  I think I saw it three times in theatre.  I thought it was smartly written and made.  It also helped that I think the actress who plays Katie is beautiful.  Luckily she returns in this one and my offer to her and her demon stands, if she needs a place to stay its all good.

This movie continued the slide that number 3 started sadly.  I really wanted to like this and I didn't hate this but that isn't want companies are looking for I don't think.  Overall it was slow and I thought that a slow build is a good thing.  However then it was over and I missed the big ending and what I mean by that is that there was no big ending.

I won't ruin anything but the plot is a creepy kid next door ends up staying with a family after his mom ends up in the hospital.  Much like the other films this is all filmed in POV style.  This time a lot of it is filmed through "web cams".

I enjoyed the actors in this and the plot wasn't bad but it was lacking the big surprises.  There were a few wow moments but nothing like that first one.  There wasn't anything new here really and felt a lot like the later Nightmare on Elm Street films.  You got what you expected so you were content but didn't get anything new.

Overall if you're a fan of the series you won't be disappointed but not happy either.  I had hoped they would end the series after 3 and I really hope they do after this one.  It is long in the tooth at this point and I don't want people to get to the point where they groan at the thought of the films, especially after the first two were so extremely well done, in my opinion.
