Movie Review: The Deep House

 Good morning, good afternoon, good evening…whenever it is you have found this entry.  Tonight, 2021-11-07 I am checking out the 2021 flick The Deep House.  Stars Camille Rowe, James Jagger, and Eric Savin.  “A young and modern couple who go to France to explore an underwater house and share their findings on social media undergoes a serious change of plans when the couple enters the interior of a strange house located at the bottom of a lake and their presence awakens a dark spirit that haunts the house.”  2,316 IMDb users have given a weighted average vote of 5.5 / 10

• ·        The accents make things slightly hard to watch
• ·        God is watching over us?  We’ll you are not screwed
• ·        Why would anyone want to do this?  Getting trapped seems like an obvious problem
• ·        Why do people always split up?  Have they never seen scooby doo?
• ·        They are windows….you do not need to pry them open
• ·        JESUS DID YOU SEE THE SIZE OF THAT FISH!
• ·        Voices over the intercom and that isn’t a problem to her?  I would be out o there
• ·        Now they are seeing people and they just keep going.  These two deserve to die in their watery graves stupid people
• ·        Scratches on the inside of the door and these two are still there.  Why are people in horror movies so damn stupid?
• ·        A lot of jump scares which actually makes this feel more real
• ·        Why does the kitchen have a giant crucified Jesus?
• ·        They don’t think it is weird that Jesus is protecting a secret room?  Like keeping something….inside?
• ·        So this family was really into S&M before the house flooded don’t kink shame them girly!
• ·        The house will not let them leave!
• ·        Oh yes the shatterproof windows
• ·        Oh, shit the S&M guys are not filming them?!?
• ·        I am so confused as to what is happening right now
• ·        The POV filming makes it hard to know what is going on at times, I suppose to give you the feeling that you are there with them but makes it hard to follow at times
• ·        Very good use of the environment and giving the viewer that panicked feeling
• ·        Inside her suit?  FUCK THAT!
• ·        OPEN YOUR MOUTH?  FUCK THAT SHIT AND FUCK BEN!
• ·        I wonder if the flick is done in real-time; meaning they are only underwater for the 60 minutes
• ·        He might be okay….it was only two stabbings

This is actually better than I expected going in.  It sounds really bad but it is not bad at all.  It was hard to follow every once in a while because of the POV nature of the flick but overall fun to watch.  A really good run time and well done.  The acting left something to be desired especially Ben, the main male character.  Overall a fun flick with a great run time.  I give it a 6/10

Movie Roulette: Ridge War Z

 

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 2021-08-01 I am checking out the flick Ridge War Z.  The first of my new "Movie Roulette" series where the wife and I pick a folder number (1-27 for the alphabet and # folders) and then a random number based on the flicks in that folder!  The first in the series is the 2013 flick Ridge War Z!  "The last surviving veterans of the worst battle of a zombie war recount their horrific memories to an author who is writing a book about their experiences."  It stars Dominique Marsell, Travis O'Leary, and Kyle Gordon per IMDB.  158 people have rated this flick a 2.5 currently.

• Brain Damage films?  Is that what I am going to get from this flick?
• Wait...are they using grenades on zombies?  
• So basically this is World War Z without a budget?
• Is that Tom Brady?
• Why is he using a typewriter?  
• I do not get the blue filter on the camera
• Take it back he looks more like Brett Favre; probably as stupid as him
• Not great mic coverage 
• They just not realized that one guy is still in the car?  Did they at least roll down the windows?
• Half a million?  That is not much for a zombie war, is it?
• Why are soldiers just laying there?  I would think they would either be zombies or collected after the fact?  
• Are they playing freeze tag and they cannot move after dying?  Jesus, he was frozen stiff
• Good grief the dialog...no human being talks like this do they?
• For zombies being around, they are not very quiet 
• Secure the back door?  Phrasing?  Are we not saying phrasing anymore?
• All that shooting for 20 zeds?
• Why do they have a body in their fox "hole"?
• Why the bazooka?  I guess for a true herd?
• This is getting a little long in the tooth and it is only 90 minutes
• Why was he looking down his sight?  There is not a scope on the gun
• Oh, they are fast-moving zombies...I do not like it
• Oh maybe he does have a scope I did not notice the first time
• They are wasting a lot of ammo on only a few D-Cays are they not?
• Well that bazooka was pointless
• I guess a bit does not mean death or infection in this universe
• Or was Carter not bit
• Yeah he was not bit
• THAT ZOMBIE FUCKING KNEECAPPED THAT MOTHER FUCKER!!
• This movie HAS to be longer than 90 minutes.  I just had a birthday while watching it
• Do the zombies stop and let people have these heartfelt moments?  If so that is nice of them
• Why did Perez just run into the horde?  Did I miss them run out of bullets?  He could have shot a few if he still had ammo right?  

Trying to be critical I feel like there are a lot of good opportunities in the flick.  Everything!  While the acting was subpar at times, the story disjointed, audio bad and well you get the picture there was a lot of groundwork.  I think it would have either been a good mini-series or just needs a budget.  Overall not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.  I will agree with IMDB and roundup, giving it a 3/10.

Joker: A fat man review

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this review.  Today I am going to talk about the newly released Joker flick.

Overall this flick was AMAZING!  While not a complete origin story, because as we all know there is no real origin story to Mr. J, it does a good job of giving a base story...a POSSIBLE origin for him.  We have several others of course, the story from The Killing Joke, the one from the original Batman flick in 92 and others.  They did a good job of mixing a lot of those. 

And honestly aside from Ledger this is a perfect live-action Joker.  This was a subdued Joker because he is just coming into his own.  Like a preteen who has not figured out just who he is yet.  You see him "age" and "come into his own" which is great.

The casting of Thomas Wayne and Murray Franklin was fantastic.  Easily one of my favourite DeNiro's performances especially near the end. 

I do not want to go into too much detail and spoil things but they throw a few curveballs and "possibilities" that I have not seen in Batman lore before. 

I am honestly not sure what else to say about this.  It is perfectly dark and light at the same time.  However I have one complaint, they make Joker almost sympathetic.  Without giving too much away what starts Arthurs turn into Joker is almost, ALMOST, not his fault.  His reaction to the situation is, again, ALMOST normal.  This is what made Heath Ledgers portrayal perfect because there was nothing redeeming or good about his Joker. 

Also, I find it interesting that the director has said that this will not cross over into the DC Cinematic Universe.  This is the first of DC's one-off movies.  It will be interesting to see who else we see in this type of flick and if they do end up in the DCCU. 

I am going to say that this is a 10/10 while IMDB has it at 9/10.  I LOVED THIS FLICK and will be purchasing the Blu-Ray when it comes out!

Movie Review: Captain Marvel

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, whenever it is you have found this review. Today I am looking at the newest MCU flick Captain Marvel. Overall another good movie from Marvel.  There are LOTS of spoilers here so proceed at your own risk

THE GOOD

• While I don't like Larson as an actress she is fine in the role.  Nothing great but she was fine in the role
• It was nice to see not only Captain Marvels story but we got more of Fury's story which was fun
• It was interesting that they changed some of the characters histories like the Skrull.  I am not against it and it was a nice surprise for comic fans
• Goose was a nice addition and a fun character

THE BAD

• I wanted to see more Agent Coulson but that is probably because I really like the character.
• Most of the comedy fell flat for me.  Personally, I feel that Brie just has no comedic timing
• Maybe I missed it but why were some white or black but the rest of the Kree blue  A brief explanation would have been nice
• It was slightly long.

THE UGLY

• I can't really put anything here.  

IMDB currently has this at a 7/10 and I agree with that.  It wasn't the best MCU flick for sure.  I know a lot of people have said it but I put it middle of the road though.  Worth going to see and checking this flick out especially if are a marvel fan.  

I know this was a brief review but I don't want to spoil things too much.  

Movie Review: Bottom 100: # 88: S Darko

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever you have found this entry.  Today, 2019/02/22 I am checking out the flick S Darko.  Today is it #88 on the Bottom 100.  "Donnie Darko's little sister, Samantha Darko, and her best friend Corey are on a country-cross road trip. They find themselves entangled in a dangerous glitch in the time-space continuum."  It stars Daveigh Chase, Briana Evigan and James Lafferty.  It currently has 3.6/10 with 12,343 votes.

• I want to be clear, I have not seen Donnie Darko...wonder if that will be needed
• She waited 7 years to run away?  Who does that?
• Why is she so pissed?  That can't be the first time
• Well this is starting off very strange
• And with shitty music
• Shouldn't she be waiting near the road not wondering off?
• This is going to be a brutal 90+ minutes
• I should have had a drink before this; it is not good at all, no wonder it is in the bottom 100
• I feel like I have been watching this shitty movie that long!
• Men in Black?  Really?
• 2x times is not fast enough 
• Oh good even more shitty music
• Why would she want to she his room?  Who wrote this?
• Force at work?  Evil?  Yeah that would be the creators of this movie...evil!
• Is that Jesse from Saved by the Bell?
• Of course a bunny right?  I think that has something to do with the first flick
• Honestly, this might be the worst movie that I have ever seen....ever
• I wish this movie would have died
• dear god, no....they aren't starting this over are they?
• This is the worse choice your own adventure ever!  
• Wait...two days still?
• I feel like I have 11 hours left of this flick
• 30 minutes left and I am about ready to throw the towel in

That might be the worse movie I have ever sat through.  Do not EVER watch this.  Nothing witty or funny here.  Just DO NOT WATCH THIS!  Go watch Special Dead or Yeti: A Love Story or the second one or anything but this.  New WORST MOVIE EVER! 1/10 only because I don't give zeros!

Movie Review: Happy Death Day 2U

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have come across this entry.  Today, 2/16/19, I am going to review the newest (I think) horror flick from Blumhouse, Happy Death Day 2U.  It stars Jessica Rothe, Israel Broussard and Phi Vu.  "Tree Gelbman discovers that dying over and over was surprisingly easier than the dangers that lie ahead."  This is the following up to Happy Death Day.  Currently on IMDB it is rated 6.8/10 with 2,552 votes. 

Because this is a new flick I cannot give you my "blow by blow" review as I usually do and I will warn you spoilers are ahead!

Okay you have been warned!  I give the writer and director (they are one in the same) for going in a direction I did not see....multiple dimensions!  I was wondering how they were going to get around the fact that the loop was broken and they found a creative and interesting way to do it.

Also I was nice to see a few of the other characters a little more fleshed out in this flick.  I would have liked to have seen the roommate, Ryan, die a few more times before the dimension flip, but it was nice to learn a little more about him and it introduced two new nerdy folks that were good for a few laughs.

Overall the story was similar to the first flick in that Tree (yes her name is Tree) finds herself stuck in a time loop where she dies over and over again trying to get out.  This time she is actually killing herself, in a few very funny ways, each time to try a new formula to get her back to her own dimension. 

Along the way she mends fences from the first film and learns valuable life lessons blah blah blah.  My one real criticism of film is that they put more heart into it.  I do NOT (personally) want to see that kind of stuff in my horror comedies.  To paraphrase A League of Their Own "There is no crying in horror movies" 

Okay no heartfelt crying

I do not want to spoil much else but lots of deaths, a few explosions and a few laughs!  I agree with the rating currently on IMDB and give it a 7/10.  I am not sure if it is worth full price theater experience but matinee or early bird special price is worth it.  Totally worth seeing ondemand or DVD!

Bottom 100: #36: Race 3

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 10/10/18, I am checking out the foreign flick Race 3.  It is currently #36 on the bottom 100 on IMDB.  It is sitting at a solid 2.1 currently.  "Relationships and loyalties of a criminal family planning its next big heist are tested when some shocking revelations strike them."  It stars  Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan and Bobby Deol.  This is an Indian (possibly Bollywood) flick so I may be off on my judgement, since the dialog will be subtitles.  Plus I have not seen Race 1 or 2 (if there is one) so I am sure the plot will be hard to follow (like if you tried to jump in at 2 Fast 2 Furious).  

• Hell yes that quick music sting got me excited!
• That might be the most interesting man alive
• Why is the helicopter still going?  I thought they usually shut those doen
• Oh god grief this is 2.5 hours long!
• A pen worth 20k?  YES PLEASE!
• Weird that there are random English words
• I changed my mind, I do not want that pen
• This is almost like a James Bond intro!
• Oh good grief did this director go to the Michael Bay school of directing?  I just watched someone set up a magic mouse!
• Next I am going to here "GO GO GO"
• ah yeah, "Let the race begin"
• Only a few minutes in but the action is pretty damn good thus far
• THAT BULLET LIT THAT MAN ON FIRE!!!
• They have signals like a ball team!
• I know I made a joke about previous movies but I am kind of lost on characters but that could be normal
• Well the car chase was good, this factory fight scene not so much
• How are they missing them?
• Now I now why it is 2.5 hours long, they have constant slow mo in the fights!
• Is that guy the Terminator?
• Sexy uncle?
• He married his dead brothers wife?
• What the fuck is happening right now?
• Ah yes the random music video within the movie
• I really have no idea what is happening in this flick
• A check worth 1 billion dollars?  REALLY!
• Aside from the plot this flick is good.  The acting seems decent, the action good, the actually filming of the flick.  I just struggle to follow the plot as at times the dialog is quick and I feel like I am missing things with the subtitles
• Ah yes the internal drama!
• THIS DANCING IS AWESOME!
• More US flicks need random dance numbers!
• In all seriousness I do not understand the language but this tune and beat is really catchy...I just caught myself tapping my foot to the beat
• Seriously the random English is messing with my mind!
• Nice job of keeping the clock in the background close to right
• Was that Sheamus?!?!
• Of course, never trust a pretty face
• INTERMISSION!!!
• Okay the plot is starting to clear up, I blame my co-watcher Sailor Jerry
• What is with this Sexy Uncle stuff?
• MORE DANCE NUMBERS!
• Well that did not go as planned...or did it?
• Double crosses abound!
• That explosion looked awful!
• This flick is too long, honestly I have lost interest at this point and still have about an hour
• Sikku looks a little bit like a really buff Zach Levi (Chuck)
• I feel like I need a score card to figure out who is on whose side
• And the shirts come off!

This flick probably does not belong in the bottom 100.  I can only give one real bad point to the flick.  It is LONG.  I mean had two birthdays during this flick long.  It really is about 45 minutes too long.  Its like Race 3 and Race 4 were forced into one film.  

Overall I feel like with some editing this could have been a decent flick.  With that said I give it a 5/10 mostly because of the length.  If they shaved some time off I think I would give it a better rating.

Movie Review: Exorist III

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 8/5/18, I am checking out the Exorcist III.  It stars George C. Scott, Ed Flanders and Brad Dourif.  "A police lieutenant uncovers more than he bargained for as his investigation of a series of murders, which have all the hallmarks of the deceased Gemini serial killer, leads him to question the patients of a psychiatric ward."

• Since they do not make anymore of these flicks the Locus market must have dropped big time!
• That is weird, just a random guy standing there....oh its a dream
• I like that the priest in these flicks are mostly flipped
• What the hell was the point of this scene
• What in the hell?  Who buys lemon drops at the movies!
• Carp?  I did not know people ate carp 
• George C. Scott was a great actor!  Only he could do that carp scene and not make it horrible
• Wow, Scott just basically said what I say about God. 
• That lady sounds ancient...and fake
• That was a weird cut and trying to figure out what happened, good thing my wife was here it explain it!
• Jesus!  That killer is sick
• That hospital is horrible!  I sure would NOT want to be there
• I like that the corner was wearing sunglasses to start with, then take it off all dramatic like
• Who takes dance classes at 10p?
• How many drugs was the writer on during this dream scene?
• Nice to see Fabio in a flick, he needs more work
• So many weird camera shots in this flick
• I do NOT think it was such a wonderful life
• Well the flashing scene did nothing really
• Why does the doctor need to rehearse the speech?
• Brad Dourif is SO weird looking
• Good grief these flicks are LONG

Well that was a trainwreck of a movie!  I can only guess the inclusion of George C. Scott keeps it at such a high rating.  It was...well all over the place.

The crime aspect of the flick was well done and the idea that they thought they had the killer dead yet he is back is not a new concept but one that can be done well.  

Everyone performances are good to very good.  I cannot fault them, it is just the exorcism and the inclusion of it seemed very forced.  Hinting that this was a demonic possession would have been better if you ask me.

Overall I cannot give this more than a 4.  The craziness of the script and the forced feeling of several aspects kind of ruined it for me! 

Movie Review: Bottom 100 #19: Gigli

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 8/15/18, I am checking out the Bottom 100 flick Gigli.  It stars Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, and Justin Bartha.  "Larry Gigli is assigned by a crime boss to kidnap the brother of a prominent district attorney. A beautiful woman known only as Ricki is sent to stay with him to make sure he doesn't mess up the job."

• Always good to start with a voice over!
• Oh no voice over, talking to a guy in a dryer...of course
• That accent is awful!
• Why do mobsters always talk like this?  You know in a certain way that is obvious but not if you get what I am saying
• Wow...so basically this kid is a very poor mans Rain Man
• Now I know why they decided that this guy was not in Hangover very much, they were afraid he would be like this
• Good grief but the dialogue in this flick makes my head hurt!
• OH MY GOD, THIS IS TWO HOURS LONG!  WHY DEAR LORD IN HEAVEN WHY!
• The writer and director retired after this.  Probably should have done that before doing this flick!
• According to IMDB the word "fuck" is used one hundred twenty-four times.
• Sweet baby Jesus...this script is awful
• Supposedly the director based Brian on real mental patients.  
• Wait...how did they remove the mental patient with no one noticing?  As someone who has been in a mental ward, you do NOT just walk in and out
• I did NOT pay to see this but I am demanding my money back and the salary of Ben and Jennifer, which was 25.5 million or in that neighbourhood
• Really?  REALLY!  This scene got left in somehow?
• Halle Berry was correct in dropping out of this shit!
• Good grief he basically just did the Tommy Boy gun show point!
• Why do they always make mobsters dress the same...or do they actually dress like that?  If so why not just round up all the bad dressers!
• Why did he let Walken in?  And how can he make this scene tolerable when it should have been dreadful!
• How did this script become an actual film?
• I am only an hour into this flick?  I should be drinking
• Random suicide scene to show their humanity of course
• Why take Brian...oh of course for comedic purposes!
• A butter knife?  Can you cut off a thumb with a butter knife?
• Yep... of course, he starts singing Big Butts while he is doing this
• I do like Afflecks hair in this flick though, I would look good with that cut
• Wait...fingerprints and spit
• Dykeasaurs Rex?  Nice!
• Turkey Time?
• Most guys need a handicap for life lets be honest!
• Time for the awkward love scene when Brian walks in right?
• Bet Larry is regretting not taking the blondes offer of a threesome now!  Haha
• Why?  Dear lord why is he in this flick?
• Was that Dory eating that guys brain?  Is that how she become stupid?
• So Lewis...or Louis....or Luis...or however they spell it did all this on his own is that what he is implying
• Wow they really just had her talk to the mob boss like that huh
• Hey there is Baywatch!
• Okay Brian talking to the girl in pink made me smile

Dear lord that was bad.  I mean that was painful to watch.  The script might be one of the worst scripts I have ever seen made.  I am talking Birdemic and Room level bad.  The guy who wrote Scent of a Women wrote this huh?  I have not seen Scent of a Woman but makes me wonder about that flick.  I know the blind car driving scene gets mocked a lot so maybe there is a reason for that.

As for the story itself, it was there.  It was flat in my opinion.  For some reason the mobster with a heart of gold just does not usually fit.  There was no reason for him to be that way...oh right Ricky and Brian changed him in just a couple of days.

The acting was horrible between Ben and Jennifer.  I mean those two were so damn flat and there was no chemistry there in my opinion.  

The character of Brian, Justin Bartha, actually grew on me near the end.  The character itself seemed more toned down the further into the flick and that was needed.  Early on it was so over the top it was like a parody of Rain Main.  

Also there were just random scenes like Walken and Pacino randomly there for one scene that really did not mean much of anything.

Overall I think the current rating of 2.4 is correct.  I give it 2/10.  It was extremely poorly performed by the main actors, poorly directed, poorly written and poorly editted.  It took the top 5 Razzies the year it came out for a reason boys and girls.  

I can NOT give you any reaosn to watch this flick.  If you have 121 minutes to waste got watch 6 episodes of Bobs Burgers!

Bottom 100: #83: Exorcist II: The Heretic

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 8/4/18, I am watching another bottom 100 flick.  As of today #83 is Exorcist II: The Heretic.  It stars  Richard Burton, Linda Blair and Louise Fletcher.  "A teenage girl once possessed by a demon finds that it still lurks within her. Meanwhile, a priest investigates the death of the girl's exorcist.

• Uggg, I do not like exorcism flicks, not one bit, they actually creep me out.  If this was not a bottom 100 I do not know if I would be watching it
• ITS THE CANDLES!  SHE HATES THE CANDLES!
• Is that suppose to be Jesus?  Because that do not look like the normal Jesus or Buddy Jesus
• Oh shit that was suppose to be a person
• Wow Linda Blair is not wearing much or a bra I do not think
• What the fuck?  Why could Debbie NOT hear her?  Is she deaf?
• Linda Blair is kind of creepy looking huh?
• Wow the dialog is AWFUL!
• Nice cross eye effect!
• Going deeper is probably a bad idea....Satan is probably still learking!
• SWEET JESUS SHE JUST SAID MY NAME!
• Wait...the ladies name is Gene...and spelled like mine?  That is weird
• Wait...she got lost in...in the light?  I'm so confused and this is SO bad.  This deserves to be bottom 100
• Nice use of overlays of the first flick
• Dear lord this is one of the worst things I have watched
• That is drawing well?  Sweet baby Jesus I would hate to see what she thinks is bad drawing!
• No wonder Richard Burton was drunk during the filming, I feel like I need to be while watching it
• What the fuck is the father doing with the crutch?
• Seriously this script is AWFUL!
• Now I know why my friend is afraid of moths after that scene!
• What the hell is going on?  Why is that black guy naked fighting locus with a slingshot
• Is this suppose to be biblical?
• Dear lord Linda Blair needed bras in this flick, I am pretty sure I saw nipple!
• Why are there people sized openings in the railings?
• She has a really damn nice apartment!
• How old is Regan in this flick?
• People were creep looking in 1977!
• No Father Meron(sp?) was not afraid, he avoid this movie!  ZINGO!
• Wow, that is a really nice priest to say I am not here for you!
• This weird synchronism machine is weird and stupid!
• I have not seen the first flick but that is probably the same demon right?
• This might be one of the worst things I have ever seen and that is saying something!
• God I have lost complete interest in this flick

• Nice to see Ned Beatty not getting raped in a swamp!

• This might be the worst movie I have ever seen...ever

I do not know how this has a 3.7 currently!  I give this a 1 because that is the lowest I can give it.  It has over 18k votes and I can NOT believe any of those are over 1.  I call bullshit, there can not be that many people who worked on this flick to give it more than a 1.  One of the worst things I have ever seen.  Do not EVER watch this, not even for all the tea in China and all the gold if Fort Knox, it is not worth it!

Movie Review: John Wick: Chapter 2

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 8/4/18, I am watching John Wick Chapter 2.  It stars  Keanu Reeves, Riccardo Scamarcio and Ian McShane.  "After returning to the criminal underworld to repay a debt, John Wick discovers that a large bounty has been put on his life."  I enjoyed Chapter 1 so lets see if they break the formula or they stick to what worked!

• A motorcycle is a good escape vehicle
• Unless that happens!
• The Russians....again?
• Nice to see them basically give us the first movie in five minutes because people will have forgot
• That is a really nice car
• Just let the guy have the car boys, it will be easier on everyone!
• Well it was a really nice car
• That is why you always wear a seatbelt
• I will ask again, why bother fighting Wick.  Give him what he wants and hope he goes away, you can NOT fight the Boogeyman

• This 3rd act has a Warriors feel to it
• The clean up crew is a nice touch

• Why are guards always looking up?  Do bad guys fly?
• He threw the gun!  AWESOME!
• I do like that these flicks seem to pay attention to guns and ammo and such, it probably is not perfect but it is cool
• That will probably come back to cost you John
• What the fuck just happens?  Why did everyone freeze?

Once agian this flick is good but just a little too long.  I would shave 10-15 minutes off once gain.  As much as I enjoyed the montage of him gearing up it could have been shortened.  Same with the scene with Common and the sister...actually quite a few scenes could have shaved by a minute or two and had a tighter flick

Overall I give it a 7/10.  It is is at 7.5 on IMDB so pretty much I am right on with most people.  I really think this might be some of Reeves best work because it does not require a range of emotions which is where he struggles.

Once again the flick puts an excellent cast out and they all hit their marks perfectly and it set up the third installment of the series which I am excited for!

Movie Review: Extinction

His nightmare turns into reality when the planet is invaded by a force bent on destruction. Fighting for their lives, he comes to realize an unknown strength to keep them safe from harm."  It stars Lizzy Caplan, Michael Peña and Mike Colter.  Let see if it is another good pick up for Netflix or a miss.  It does have a 5.9 out 10 with 5,237 votes

• Oh Michael Pena, you have become such a good actor since The Shield!
• Wait weird person in the elevator was his daughter?  I am confused
• Oh shit is that Luke Cage?  There is no way a force bent on destruction is doomed!
• Lizzy is look very odd, I haven't really seen her in anything since Cloverfield though.
• Did he fall asleep in the store room?
• This flick has weird pacing/scenes are hard to follow
• She is a supportive wife

• Well this took a moralistic turn
• The sad thing is this is exactly how humanity would respond

Well this ended up taking a turn that I was not expecting and honestly it ruined it for me.  Bringing up this horrible moralistic question into what was suppose to be an end of the world flick ruined it for me completely.  I watch flicks like this for escapism not to be reminded that we, as humanity, are horrible and will probably end up bringing our own doom due to our own hatred and fear.

Now onto the flick itself, it is very VERY good.  I think the rating is way down.  9/10 if you ask me!  The acting and the action and everything is fantastic.  I cannot really complain about anything other then it took that turn that I mentioned above.  

You have to realize that when I watch movies/TV I watch for escapism not to be feel/think most of the time.  Occasionally I watch those films but I realize I am watching one of those.  This time it was a trick.  They tricked me and that makes me angry.  

The morale of the flick to find common ground is one that we all need to find but I did not watch a sci-fi flick for that.  I want to be angry at the flick but I am not as it was too well done for me to be mad!

Movie Review: Blockers

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this review.  Today, 7/7/18, I am checking out the 2018 flick Blockers.  It stars  Leslie Mann, John Cena and Ike Barinholtz.  "Three parents try to stop their daughters from losing their virginity on prom night."  This flick looked very fun when it was out in the theaters so checking it out now.

• Seriously the thing with the underwear is a horrible nightmare that I have

• Leslie Mann is so weird
• If I had kids when they were young I would have basically been Cena
• 10 dicks then one mound?  Are mounds that bad?
• Are teenagers really like this?

• Who plays darts?

• Oh yeah I would not trust that Conner kid?
• Uggg, snooping parents drive me crazy, I would not be one of those

That was strangely entertaining...a horrible soundtrack but entertaining.  It has a 6.4/10 on IMDB and I think I agree with that, 6/10.  It was good but not the laugh out loud comedy I was expecting.  A little too much "heartfelt feelings" for me.  That is what is wrong with these kind of comedies now, has to have those "feels" and what not.  Personally I just wanted it to be a raunchy comedy!

However it is worth seeing because everyone does a decent to good job.  John Cena actually did a really good job in it.  He will most likely never have the career the Rock has had but he is not a bad performer at all.  Put him in the right roles and he is entertaining and does have some good comedic timing.

It is not the classic I was hoping it would be but funny enough and had me laughing out loud a few times so if you catch it on cable or if it hits the streaming services worth checking out.

Movie Review: Bottom 100 #14: Alone in the Dark

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 8/11/18, I am checking out the bottom 100 flick Alone in the Dark.  It stars Christian Slater, Tara Reid and Stephen Dorff (good grief, who thought that would be a good cast...oh of course it is Uwe Boll!)  "A detective of the paranormal slowly unravels mysterious events with deadly results."  There is no way that this movie did NOT end up in the bottom 100!  It currently has a 2.3/10 with nearly 40k worth of votes.  Lets go see why the only people who saw this movie did so alone...while in the dark!

• I am glad they are reading the scroll, that is a shit ton to read!  This is a movie not a book damn it!
• Of course it is the fault of the Native Americans!  Look what they did to that poor family in Poltergeist!
• Your mom is a bitch that did not teach you to keep that trap of yours shut!

• Its like a really bad video game plot...with a writer who is 12 years old
• WTF?  Random sex scene for no reason what so ever
• She made no noise what so ever, she should have atleast went "offff" or something like that right?

• My god she is awful, I do not believe she even knows what most of those words mean!
• I think he has the best karate kicks in the history of kicks!
• Ah yes the classic Boll shooting scene.  I think he does one of these scenes in every one of his flicks!
• Wait...they are zombies like creatures now that eat people?

• In the trivia over on IMDB even Boll regrets casting Reid in this flick, how sad is that!
• The flick is not over yet but I will tell you that this flick is easily a 1/10
• Why did that guy CHARGE the killer monsters?
• Its like they took everything good from the Alien flicks and ruined it and bastardized it into something horrible
• Okay this flick is going on WAY too long and it is only 100 or some minutes, should have been 80ish at most!
• Wait why did he open teh door and take the bomb out of the room?  I am confused!
• So by opening the door all people were killed?  Thanos should have just opened that door!

Well that was one of the worst things I have ever sat through.  I have nothing good to say about it.  The acting was unbelievable and the CGI was bad.  There was nothing good about it.  Nothing.  I am sorry for everyone involved in this film.  Do NOT watch this film...ever!

Movie Reivew: John Wick

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 8/4/18, I am checking out the flick John Wick.  It stars Keanu Reeves, Michael Nyqvist and Alfie Allen.  "An ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that killed his dog and took everything from him." 

• Well this is a slow start
• Well that is a bad guy, he is always a bad guy...even when he is not 
• No action movie should make me...OH MY GOD IT IS A BEAGLE?  THEY ARE GOING TO HURT A BEAGLE?
• Beagles are the bestest doggies!  Now I miss Ace, thanks a lot stupid movie
• Oh Russians....they are horrible in movies.  Thankfully in real life they only look out for our best interest in real life!
• If they did that to my dog....I would probably do what John ends up doing to these guys.  I have always said you can do anything to me but if you mess with my dog watch out!
• Honestly why would they hurt the puppy who did nothing.  The puppy did NOTHING!
• Nice response....oh
• I think there is going to be some mayhem in this movie.  Because that is Mr. Mayhem...get it...oh never mind
• Is the guy in charge the most interesting man in world?

• I like that it is not about the money
• I hate blood splatter on the camera in movies and TV
• Should have just given your son up to begin with

• Damn Goblin was on his side.  I thought it was about the money.  So disappointed
• Poor Goblin, should have been after the money, it is about the money, always the money
• This flick is getting a little long in the tooth 

Well that was something.  It was pretty good aside from being long.  It needed to have probably 15-20 minutes shaved off, make it around 80 or 90 minutes.  At over 100 minutes I felt it was just too long.  Plus a few too many storylines with the Ms. Perkins and Marcus storyline and the hotel story as well.

Currently it has a 7.3 with nearly 400,000 votes.  I think this is probably about right.  I give it a 7/10.  I am interested in seeing the second one especially with the third one being filmed currently.  This is worth checking out if you enjoy a good old fashion revenge story!

Movie Review: Dead Shack

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 7/29/18, I am watching the zombie flick Dead Shack.  "While staying at a run-down cabin in the woods during the weekend, three children must save their parents from the neighbor who intends to feed them to her un-dead family."  It stars Matthew Nelson-Mahood, Lizzie Boys, Gabriel LaBelle.  It currently has a rating of 5.7 with 940 votes.  I remember seeing the concept trailer for this a year or two ago so I am excited to see this.  Should have joined the kick starter for it!

• Is that a zombie with a shotgun?
• Shit I think that was a zombie with a shotgun...and he used it.  That is worse then a hobo with a shotgun for sure!

That was a fun little flick.  I do not think the 5.7 fits this flick.  I give it a 7/10.  It was well done.  Honestly everything about it was well done.  The effects were perfect and appeared to be mostly practical.  

The acting was fine and every entertaining!  Roger and Colin and Summer were all great and Jason as the wet blanket nerdy kid was great.  I personally think that Roger stole the flick.

It was nice to see Lauren Holly in a smaller flick like this and she was good as well.  

The makeup was great and the fact that you do not see the gore and violence with most of it being implied I like better then a giant gore fest that so many flicks have become in later years

Honestly I would say if you enjoy decent written and performed horror movies this should be something you seek out.  

Movie Review: Bottom 100: Glitter

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today I am watching the 2001 flick Glitter.  It stars Mariah Carey, Eric Benét and Max Beesley.  "A young singer dates a disc jockey who helps her get into the music business, but their relationship become complicated as she ascends to super stardom."  I do not know anything about this flick other then as of 7/21/18 it is #18 on the bottom 100. 

• Well this is not a bad way to start a flick, decent music
• That scene seemed out of place and just there...weird....I can see pacing/storyline is probably going to be a problem
• Born Under a Bad Sign should be a song that young lady sings I think
• What was the point of that?  Yeah the scenes and pacing of this are flick are bad already
• OH MY GOD SHE IS AWFUL!
• Good grief the extras are awful in club scenes
• Sadly the music did NOT stay good and the acting is even worse!
• The way the one girl with the Michigan Sweats on makes me very embarrassed to be a fan!
• This DJ seems EXTREMELY douchy if you ask me, like a poor mans Marky Mark mixed with "I only hit you because I love you baby" 
• What is with the random slowmo and jump cuts?
• Daddy?
• It is sad that Carey can actually sing and usually does that screeching that she does
• Why is she just in lingerie?
• If Dice told me I was alive I would have to check my pulse because I would not believe anything he said
• I think Dice is allergic to sleeves
• This might surprise some of my readers but I have never been to a dance club...and I blame movies like this because it looks HORRIBLE

• For just having "slept together" they look very clean and kept

• This flick seems like a bunch of sketches thrown together into a flick
• Strangely I agree with Dice, the whole sex thing is not needed with real talent
• No one has bought him anything before?  Really?

• I hate having my back to doors because of that, creepy guys watching me...
• What the fuck is up with those outfits...maybe I have not watched enough award shows
• Yep he is the "I only hit you because I love you" type guy
• Of course she forgives him for him being an asshole
• That was screaming?
• Like they would really send her to bail Dice out...good grief
• How can she walk down the street without people knowing its her?
• Wait..he has a piano?  
• Yep, you need to have a verbally abusive guy in your life

Well that was not a good film that is for sure.  Does it belong in the bottom 100...not at 18 that is for sure.  It is not the 18th worse flick on IMDB for sure.  I realize there is a number of votes requirements and what not but this does not deserve to be near the top.

The pacing is bad and the acting is subpar but I blame the director and editor actually.  There were glimpses of decent acting and it shows me that it was possible.  They just needed the right directions.  Also the writer was awful.  I feel like they needed to let these people be themselves so to speak because a lot of the dialog seemed force

Overall I give it a 4/10, twice the current rating because it does NOT deserve a 2 in my opinion!

Movie Review: Bottom 100: Dragonball Evolution

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 7/15/18, I am checking out the IMDB Bottom 100 flick Dragonball Evolution.  It is currently #20 on the list.  "The young warrior Son Goku sets out on a quest, racing against time and the vengeful King Piccolo, to collect a set of seven magical orbs that will grant their wielder unlimited power."  It stars Justin Chatwin, James Marsters and Yun-Fat Chow.  It currently has a 2.6 with just over 63k in votes.

• Wow they are right into this...no intro...guess this is just for fans
• Did they just say that the first rule is there are no rules?  Seriously?
• The old man is cheating, he has a stick....well he did have a stick
• So he is going to a crazy old man to be taught how to be normal?  Probably not the best approach sunshine
• So they can just run people over and nothing is done...movie logic is so weird
• Uggg, that haircut!  Even I know it is bad
• What the fuck was that?  Some random day dream?
• So Dragonball is about high school bullies?
• Why did he dump his drink out?
• Does he go to kung fu high school?
• Bumblebee really wanted to stay in car form to take that abuse! 
• If she liked different why did she date stereotypical high school bully?

• I will say this flick has decent pacing thus far.  Not a good movie but so far it has decent pacing

• Again I had no idea Dragonball was a teenage coming of age drama
• Do they explain how Chi-Chi and Bulma know each other?
• Seriously why Ernie?  Not getting enough residuals from Ghostbusters and Crow?

• Oh good they repeated that rules line
• So Chi-Chi is completely pointless in the flick

I really do not know what to say about this flick.  It was no horrible but it was extremely confusing for a non-fan and probably a fan if it does not really follow the stories of the anime.  For me i had no idea what was happening often and they said words but those words did not make sense.  Randomly talking about stars and fighting and people just being friends.  I do not get it.  

The pacing was good, at no point was I bored with the flick but I was often confused.  Why was Chi-Chi there?  Why was the random surfer guy there?  What is the timeline for this?  There are so many questions that there are no answers to.  

The actors did the best they could with what they were given I feel.  I do not blame them for this horribleness, I blame the writers and director.  I wonder if there is a better possible cut and may be they had a really bad editor or something as well.  

Overall I think the 2.6 is probably correct and I give it a 3/10.  This is because of the pacing of the flick and the acting was good for what they had.  

I really cannot say to watch this flick.  There is nothing good enough to put 85 minutes of your life into the viewing of this flick unless you are like me and like to watch bad movies.

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 7/7/18, I am watching the Truman Show.  "An insurance salesman/adjuster discovers his entire life is actually a television show."  It stars Jim Carrey, Ed Harris and Laura Linney  I remember liking the flick when I saw it lets see how it holds up.

• I am surprised we have not seen this done yet
• It would be very hard to explain that...oh yeah using the old airplane in trouble excuse!
• Good grief I would punch Truman even if I was on a TV Show
• That is how celebrity stalkers start
• That is how I feel about public transportation too!
• Yeah everyone LOVES desk jobs!
• Where the hell is Fiji?  Did they pick the dumbest people to stock the island?
• That moon looks SO fake....oh right
• Oh right they "killed off" his dad
• How did these issues not happen before?
• They are going to have to build a psycho ward after these few days
• You would think that a show going this long would have a better wardrobe budget!
• I would shove that trumpet up his ass!
• How would she keep getting on set?  It makes no sense
• That car is pretty good at driving on the beach and loose sands
• Seriously they have not had any issues and suddenly several in two days?  Very strange and convenient!
• THAT WAS ASSAULT!
• Yeah Truman is going away for a while....to the looney bin!
• And I thought I was going to get to see an amputation
• This movie works so well because Carrey plays crazy so well
• FOREST FIRE!
• I am going to start doing a promo for things randomly in my life
• Oh right pig vomit is in this flick
• Really?  The return of the dad?  Jumping the shark boys and girls!
• I wish my life was manipulated like this sometimes, always good things it seems
• Mr. Burns!
• Well he is a manipulator but so is everyone for someone are they not?
• He might be suspicious now if he was not already
• Where is Capt. Mike Rotunda when you need him?
• Bonus points for those who got that reference
• How does he know how to sail?
• Talk about a true god complex
• Talk about needing a lot of therapy!
• Truman is like a whale in captivity, he cannot survive in the real world.  Should have killed him in the storm!
• Why would people be happy?  The show is over

I gave this a 7/10 last time I rated this and I think it stands there.  IMDB has it at a 8.1/10 and I cannot argue with that just not there for me.  Enjoyable and probably his best work but it is also kind of artsy for my taste.  

The supporting cast is really what makes the movie in my opinion.  The best friend and the director are both fantastic performers.  

I think it would have been a fascinating flick to have been done as a real movie only to find it all out at the end that it was all manipulated.  Had the viewers be the real "Truman".  Interesting idea but cannot be done in this day and age with spoilers constantly.  

If you have not seen the flick check it out, it is good and has its comedic moments.  If you have seen it it is worth a second viewing in my opinion.

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you have found this blog.  I am back after some time off to deal with personal stuff.  Today, 6/23/18 I am checking out the flick Jurassic Dead.  "A cracked scientist aligns with the Axis of Evil to bring down the US of A with EMP blasts, toxic zombification gas and an unleashing of the ultimate undead killing monstrosity -- the Z-REX"  It stars Matt Block, Cooper Elliott and Ben Johnson.  It currently has a 4.5/10 on IMDB with 98 votes.  I personally can't wait to see some zombie dinosaurs!

• 80 minutes, probably a good running time for this flick
• I already want this soundtrack!
• So it is either get shot in the head or get eaten by a zombie dinosaur...I think I would pick the the gun shot in the head
• The bald guy is the scientist?  Really?  Was Denise Richards busy?  BAM!
• OH MY GOD THE BEST LOOKING DINOSAUR EVER!!

• Seriously that was like the dinosaurs at Dinosaurs Alive at Impression 5 (That is a call back to my elementary days in Charlotte/Lansing Michigan area!)
• What school only has like 10 students in a class?  Couldn't they give out free sandwiches and get more people?
• Oh my god, this acting is awful!
• Is this a found footage flick?  Oh....nope....damn
• I don't think that was a real cigar!

• Wait...did Duke/Knobbs just fight the T-Rex hand to hand and knock it out?
• Why is the T-Rex so small?
• Have they not figured out that they are zombies?
• Wait...are we going to hear redneck take a crap?  Not cool
• Why is this flick celebrating the zombie Knobbs killing redneck guy with his own theme music?
• Really?  Wasting the ammo on the metal door that just fell apart....who wrote this shit?
• No nearly enough zombie dinosaurs eating humans and other dinosaurs and what not

I am so confused about this flick.  I thought only one soldier survived but I saw two plus a girl and why dod they have the dino head on their roof?  Also are they zombies or just flesh eaters?  

• I do not usually add comments here but I think they put more effort into the credits!
• Really?   A post credit scene in this flick?

I have no idea what I just watched.  I feel like the writers had an outline for the flick and just "We don't need anything more than this.  Each card is a scene and we are good."  It was disjointed and confusing and the dialog made what I wrote in Grade School good.  I cannot write dialog worth shit but sweat baby Jesus this made my dialog look like Shakespeare!  

The acting was over the top to just basically said like reading a queue card with no effort.  It was all over the place and not in a good way.  

The dinosaur was awful and made no sense and honestly did not anything to the film.  Could have just been zombies/infected and would have made more sense.  The inclusion of the T-Rex just muddied the waters.

Overall I give this a 3 only because the nerd girl and Duke Knobbs entertained me.  I guess you can watch this if you can find a copy but do not go out of your way.  It is bad and not in an entertaining train wreck sort of way!
