2020-01-01 Main Event

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-02-08, I am checking out the 2020-01-01 Main Event.  No clue who is going to be on this show so lets get to the ring!

  • Chelsea Green debuting before then going down to NXT
  • MICKIE JAMES!  I was wondering where she was
  • Do you think there are a lot of Vikings in Louiseville?
  • Green looks so different with the dark hair after years with the blonde in Impact
  • Green should stay on the floor for a 9 count!
  • Also, Logan looks weird with the lighter hair
  • Saxton is SO bad, I hate him on commentary
  • Green needs different gear.  I am not sure what would be correct but what she has seems off
  • Green almost had a wardrobe malfunction
  • Unprettier!  I am shocked that Green got the win
  • Green also needs better music
  • No Way Jose is so underrated
  • Mojo seems like he is a LOT of fun, even hangs out with porn stars!
  • I have been on the East Coast most of them are really damn stupid!
  • I have grown to like both of these guys over the years
  • Neither guy is going to main event Wrestlemania but both have good matches and that is the point
  • Did Saxton just call it the Stun Gun?  Okay, maybe I am too hard on you!

    • Typical Main Event show but two decent matches.  The Women's match was sloppy at times but Logan and Green are not "veterans" as it were.  Mojo and No Way have fought so many times they are going to have good matches and they have good chemistry together.  Nothing special here.  Until next time....Abyssinia!

      Main Event 11-14-12 Review

It is Wednesday night, I have Ion TV on so that means on thing...it is time for the MAIN EVENT!  Tonight the main event is another tag team match between Team Hell No (Daniel Bryan/Kane) taking on Team Rhodes Scholars (Cody Rhodes/Damien Sandow) for the tag team titles!

The new good guy Miz and Michael Cole are at ringside and we see a recap of Rhodes Scholars taking on Kane and Miz from Raw this past week which wasn't a great show.  We start off with a Team Hell No interview.  They now have Daniel acting like a jealous girlfriend and Kane walks off.  After he walks off Rhodes Scholars attacks Daniel and leaving him beat up.

I like that thus far they haven't changed Miz's smug attitude.  He is the same guy it is just now he is a good guy and I dig that.  We new have a video package for Team Hell No, which they should have done BEFORE the interview.  I will say it again however, that this is the best thing going on WWE TV.  I hated it when it first started but it has really grown on me.  I actually wish we had more of the anger management classes actually.

Surprisingly after that opening attack we still get the tag team title match first.  It'll be interesting to see if they do a title change here shortly before the Survivor Series.  Also will Miz come into play here as well.  It is an interesting match this close to the pay per view.  These are four of my favorite guys with the company right now.  I've mentioned before how much I respect for Kane for his ability to constantly evolve character wise.  Wow Miz just brought up John Morrison on WWE TV.  Didn't expect that!  Kane and Daniel actually pushing and shoving each other after Kane hit Daniel.  I don't like that.  I like the verbal arguing yet they haven't actually hit each other.  Its that big brother little brother dynamic that I like.

Why is there a commercial for this show DURING this show?  Isn't that something that drove ECW fans nuts during their run on what became Spike TV?

Wow that was an ugly back body drop that Cody just took, landing on his shoulder and nearly his neck!  It is interesting that Rhodes Scholars has been in charge and Cody might be hurt from that back drop and the trainers were out there and Cody is just laying there with his head on the mat.  Cody seems really shaken up and out of it on the apron.

This might be the best show WWE puts on each show with the main roster.  They just showed a replay of the backdrop and he didn't land just on his shoulder but his head as well.  He might be concussed and that isn't good with the PPV Sunday.  A chokeslam followed by a diving headbutt and Team Hell No with another victory!  I won't if that was the plan or if an they had to make a change because of Cody's injury.  Watch out Matt Striker, he is interviewing Team Hell No.  He quickly leaves asking if Daniel and Miz can bury the hatchet.  Kane say the answer should be "Yes! Yes! Yes!"  Miz offers his hand and Daniel shakes his head no a few times.  Kane tells Daniel something now he starts screaming no and then offers to "hug it out".  Miz walks away without hugging it out?  That is too bad, but it might be because Miz is decked out in his suit and D-Bry is all sweaty.

Wow, a new WWE 13 commercial starting CM Punk.  A good game which I'll do a review of soon.

We now have a video package for the main event at the Survivor Series between CM PunkJohn Cena and Ryback.  They also throw in some Brad Maddox stuff, which I wonder if that is storyline is done.  Go to my Raw review to see what happened on Raw between these three.  Should be a good match and I see Punk keeping the title but that is just me.  Remember they already announced at the Royal Rumble the WWE Champion will face The Rock for the title.

Dolph Ziggler is being interviewed and he is bashing Team Foley and the Miz is sticking up for them.  They are setting up a match between the two next week perhaps and Dolph just took a cheap shot at the  Cleveland Browns and we have our match next week.

Uggg, Santino Marella is on the way to the ring.  WHY?!?!  I hope he is facing the Big Show and he breaks his jaw like he did William Regal's on Raw!

It is Santino taking on David Otunga?  What did we do to deserve this?  Whatever it is I am sorry!  Can I cheer for the ref in this match?  Okay that isn't fair as these guys are both professionals and doing something that many people, including myself, wish they could do.  Also you can't blame them for the crappy gimmicks and characters they get but man I don't care about either of these guys at all.  Santino with the win with....the Cobra.  I refuse to explain that move because I will feel completely silly doing it.

WWE Main Event for 10-31-12 Review

The main event just finished up and here are my thoughts as the show happened:

The show starts off with info about Brad Maddox, the ref show screwed Ryback at Hell in the Cell.  He will be questioned at WWE HQ tomorrow.  They talk a bit about his past saying he failed to become a superstar/wrestler and became a ref when Raw went three hours.  Maddox was seen down in FCW/NXT and is actually not a bad performer.  It will be interesting to see where this goes.  And now it is time for our main event…to open the show.  It will be the Prime Time Players and Albert Del Rio, sans an awesome car here taking on The Masked Duo (my name for them) Rey Misterio, Sin Cara and Randy Orton.

If WWE is serious about Sin Car and Rey Misterio being a team they need to give them a team name, team music and entrance.  Also, as much as I hated them, they need to go back to the half and half masks.

Thus far this has spanned two breaks, maybe they are going to have one match last the entire show minus the recap of HitC and the Alberto segment.  It has been an okay match but I just can’t get behind the face team.

Titus just threw Rey Rey by the heel which was pretty impressive!

Surprisingly it seems to be Alberto as the weak link on the heel team.

Alberto eats a 619 and then an RKO for the pinfall loss.  Again surprised that it was Alberto taking the pinfall and not one of the PTP.

It is time for your teacher and mine, Matt Striker, to interview the victors.   Why he isn’t sitting in the announce booth is beyond me.

Randy looks like a giant in the ring with the other three

Josh Mathews interviews the PTP who say they will be tag champs at Wrestlemania and then Alberto threatened Orton so it seems that feud will continue.

Next up it is time for As the Raw Turns aka the Vicki/AJ/Cena storyline.  I won’t recap as it makes me sad.  Only good thing is seeing the smoking AJ.

Next up Wade Barrett to take on Tyson Kidd.  Remember him, he was about ready to get a major push back at Money in the Bank.  Wonder who wins this one?  My guess is Kidd gets a Souvenir.

Looks like may be they will be going with Sheamus and Wade Barrett.  His thick accent makes it hard to understand him sometimes.  Here comes the Ginger Demon (I’ll let the WWE use that if they want) and he is all jolly which I hate.

Next week it is Sheamus and Wade Barrett.  Really?  The crowd is “What”ing Wade.  Really?

      My Random Thoughts:

I might be in the minority but I really like Darren Young.  Something about him that if given the chance I think can be a great hand for WWE in the future.  I don’t see him as a World Champion but he can be a solid midcard guy.  However I think they need to build the tag division around the Prime Time Players (PTP).  I think they are really jelling as a team and have the IT factor.  Alberto on the other hand I just don’t see it and never have.  As for the face team, I have no opinion.  Orton is a two striker, meaning he has two strikes against him as far as wellness violations, so I don’t see them giving him a title run and if they do it should be short.  Same with Rey Rey and Sin Cara just hasn’t connected with fans.

Wade Barrett is on the cusp but as long as they have guys like Randy Orton defeat him over and over again he will stay there.  Not sure if he can be a top star but worth giving him a chance as they don’t have anyone else up there.

If you read my entry about sportsmanship it applies to Sheamus.  He is all jolly and making jokes about the English and the Scottish four days after losing his title.  Not a fan of this version of Sheamus.
