Classic Wrestling Review: 1994-01-27 Clash of the Champions

Good morning, good afternoon, Good evening....whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-03-26, we are going back to 1994 and the end of January for the Clash of the Champions!  Ric Flair and Sting take on Vader and Rick Rude.  Plus the match I am waiting for, Dustin Rhodes takes on favorite Steven Regal.  Let us go to the ring....
  • BOB HEENAN IS HERE!  BEST DAY OF WCW EVER!!!
  • I love that Bobby comes out with his classic one-liners, I know who the Assassin is....the guy in the mask
  • I think I say this ever WCW show they are on, but why was Roma not a bigger star?  Has to be the attitude in the back right?
  • Those trunks on Scorpio & Bagwell were just awful!
  • Nick Patrick was WAY out of position there
  • Why would Orndorff go to the top?
  • Wait...that finished Roma off?  Strange finish
  • Ah there was an object in the knee pad, I missed that till the replay
  • Weird they came back right on action, no intros or anything
  • I always liked Ice Train, especially later on as MI Smooth
  • Oh man I love Austin with is Southern Accent
  • This is the match I was looking forward to!
  • I love that Sir William is out there keeping track of the time
  • I would pay to see this match today, they would be 10 times better than just about anything put on TV this week
  • I do not understand why are none of the announcers wearing masks?
  • I love that Bobby could do the serious type announcing and then talk about thumbing both eyes
  • Bobby popped Gordan twice thus far
  • This is why it was great to have Regal as TV champion.  Regal and Anderson were the best at making these matches
  • THAT IS ILLEGAL!  Closed fists
  • Regal knows what he is doing, he is keeping Rhodes off guard
  • HE HIT SIR WILLIAM!!!  THAT IS DISGUSTING!
  •  It is weird that they took Tony out of the booth for Gordan
  • MMMM, Missy Hyatt!!
  • I do love that Cactus clothesline over the top
  • Payne does look like Cousin It!
  • Not a great match, but what you expect with three of these men
  • Missy better get some shots
  • Those fans were booing Pillman winning?
  • I love that Parker could wrestle like both a wrestler or a manager, he is woefully underrated
  • What is that big hick doing getting involved?!
  • How entertaining was Austin back at this point
  • WTF?  THAT WAS A THREE COUNT!
  • This is maybe my favourite version of Vader, that 1993-1995 Vader.  The best shape and still had that killer instinct.
  • It is a shame Rick Rude got hurt in the near future of 1994, I think he could still be going otherwise
  • Were Vader's best matches in the state with Sting?
  • Name another big man that can take moves like that German like Vader did, I will wait
  • Was this the best time period of Sting?  The Sting Squadron through Hogan showing up
  • I love to hear Flair scream "Oh God" it was so perfect
  • A vicious DDT by Rude
  • Is Sting loopy here?  He seems really out of it
This was a good show with two great matches.  The two tag matches were okay.  The opening match was there and was really good when Pretty Wonderful was in charge.  Bagwell was still green and Scorpio is good at what he does.  Train and Simmons was just there and probably should not have been on TV yet.  Then you have the Regal/Rhodes match.  Like I said this could happen today and be better than most of the matches on TV.  Both of these men are top ten of all time in my opinion.  Then you had the Nastys match, which was what it was.  Exactly what you expect, sloppy and hard hitting and just the next chapter of their match match.  The chicken suit match was a storyline match but showed how great Parker was in the ring.  And the main event...man Vader was on fire and amazing.  Flair was in his prime.  Rude never looked better and Sting always stepped up with the right men in the ring with him.  Those four should have main event PPV against each other for years but we know who is coming in....brother.
