Classic Wrestling Review: 1994-01-22 Royal Rumble

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-02-08, we are going back to 1994-01-22 and the Royal Rumble.  Maybe my favourite pay per view each year.  The Harts are in tag action, we get a casket match and of course, the Rumble itself so let us get to the ring!

• Unfortunately, the copy I have is the edited version after WWF changed names and lost to the panda.  I wish it was the original PPV version
• DiBiase was not the best announcer but what a great voice and of course the laugh
• Bam Bam filling in for Borga tonight
• I remember watching this PPV live actually, one of my favorite moments in wrestling.  I will bring it up when it happens
• What was that move that Bam Bam just did?
• An impressive powerslam by Ta-ta-ta-Tanka as Heenan would call him
• When did Tatanka stop putting the red in his hair, I just noticed it is not there
• Bret screwed Owen....just like he always did!
• Bret was always afraid of Owen, I knew it back then and I know it now!
• Damn I miss Owen
• They are not the mounties!
• I love The Quebecers music.  One of my favourites
• It is weird to think that Pierre is having a better year now then he did back in 1994
• That hiptoss right into a pinfall was awesome by Owen, obviously the best Hart!
• The ref is my favourite ref of all time Timmy White!
• Demolition's finisher!  I think my favourite finisher
• Listen to the crowd! 
• I am sitting here humming the Quebecers theme song damn it
• Bret took a great buckle shot
• Did Vince get a bonus every time he said Tremdous manoeuvre?
• This is a great match!
• That double hotshot/stun gun looked brutal on Owen!
• The Finisher on the Knee?  Thank goodness Bret Moved!
• Wait...is Bret going for the Sharpshooter?  JUST TAKE YOU SELFISH MORON!!
• I loved Raven as Johnny Polo, he was so great and annoying in that character
• It was that moment!  When Owen kicked Brets leg.  I literally jumped to my feet in my friends living room watching it live.  I have never been a bigger fan then that moment!
• Kicked your leg out of your leg, oh Owen
• Why JR?  Why should Owen be ashamed?  Because he finally gave his brother what he deserved?
• Stolen?  They were taken because Razor is a tax cheat JR!
• These two had great chemistry 
• IRS might be the only person in the world who sweats more than I do!
• IRS accidentally got tied up in the ropes Gorilla, of course he has an innocent look on his face!
• Montana will handle the Bills I am sure
• RAZOR CHEATED!  HE CHEATED!
• It is the real IC Champ Shawn Michaels!
• IRS does not know what happened because Razor hit him with an illegal foreign object!
• What is Earl doing in the ring?
• What a sore loser Ramon is
• What?  THERE WAS NO BELL!  IRS WAS ROBBED!
• Has there ever been a better ring announcer than Howard Finkel?
• Yoko had great facial expressions
• Is Yoko the best big man in history?  He is right there for sure!
• You have Jim Cornette on your show and you do not have him do a promo that is just wrong
• You do not see shots like that with a chair anymore!
• I miss chair shots like these
• Yoko did not get up for the chokeslam
• Taker rolling Yoko looks like me rolling out bed...and that is not a good thing!
• At this point, I remember realizing they were going to screw Taker
• It is also amazing they had Taker fight off a dozen men
• Did Taker just headbutt Bam Bam....he is undead!
• This is where Pro Wrestling meets entertainment, I do not hate or love it when done right/hokey.  But done wrong and it is just horrible
• I actually thought this was the end of the Undertaker back in the day
• Not early today Howard, we watched it on Mania
• I do not think drawing number one is what made Scotty upset
• 90 seconds this year at the Royal Rumble due to "time constraints"
• Why would they fight Ted?  They would just wait for the next man and beat them up
• Kwang pulling a Great Muta, brilliant
• Listen to the boos for Owen!
• This is before Bob went nuts, which is my favourite Backlund character
• Billy is a big man, I think people forget that.  But up next to Diesel he is not overshadowed
• Virgil is the man to eliminate Diesel obviously!
• Strangely enough, Virgil is my Grandpa's favourite wrestler!  Him and Hulk Hogan
• Listen to the fans!  Macho was always over
• I always like Jeff Jarrett.  I cannot say why but always has been one of the guys I enjoyed watching
• Brian Adams was and is underrated.  Too bad he passed young
• I loved that gut-wrench Tilt-A-Whirl backbreaker
• The fans are cheering everyone even Doink!
• I really liked the Matt Bourne Doink, this guy not so much
• Crush, Bigelow and Diesel, a lot of beef in that ring!
• And now Mabel comes in!  DEAR LORD!
• It is weird to think Nash is the only guy in the ring right now still with us
• Hardcore Holly is out and another of those guys I liked to watch because he never had a bad match
• Aside from the eye Shawn has not aged much has he
• The fans giving Big Daddy Cool a great ovation
• Does anyone really remember Mo?  They do Mabel/Viscera but Mo?  I think not
• The Hammer is a guy how never had a bad match either.  And has never aged and always looked the same
• Not everyone Vince, Mo is down and out
• Luger in the ring after the beating he took, he is an all American!  USA USA USA!
• I feel like Tenryu was usually a babyface
• Martel was an iron man at one point and another guy we do not hear about much anymore
• Here comes the selfish Hitman
• Does not care about his family or his brother.  Should have given Owen his spot
• Fatu was always a respected guy you could tell.  Always put into great positions 
• The Rockers explode once more!!!
• I remember being disappointed with the Rockers break up in 1992 even as a casual unsmart fan
• Did Vince really think Adam Bomb was going to win the Rumble?
• I am surprised Bomb/Clark did not have a better career.  Do you think it was his accent?
• Listen to the fans pop for Lex's music!  They are pissed that they stopped his music
• Okay that is a real pop for Bret's music
• Bret and Lex did such a great job of making sure you could not tell who won 

This show holds a special place in my heart for the Owen Hart moment.  I am no exaggerating how excited I was when Owen kicked Bret.  There are not a lot of moments that I remember in my wrestling fandom.  When Hogan said he was returning from Earthquake crushing him, being caught up in a Hogan vs. Flair house show match and cheering for Hogan, cheering for Jim Duggan at a World War 3, having Triple H giving the 1-2-3 Kid 3 Pedigree by chanting one more time and this moment.  I will most likely never forget jumping to my feet so excited for Owen.  If you take that away from this rumble the big thing coming out of this is that it is obvious they are going to put the rocket on Diesel, and the Undertaker is gone....or is he?

2020-01-02 NXT UK Review

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-02-09, I am checking out the first NXT UK of the decade, the show from 2020-01-02.  I do not follow NXT UK closely so I am not sure what is going on aside from Walter so let us go to the show!

• The theme music is horrible with a capital H!
• Yes my favourite guy on this roster, Mastiff is on!  
• Mastiff is my brother from another mother
• First look and I already hate Kona Reeves
• I want to see Mastiff and Otis tag together!
• How are guys like Mastiff and Otis so athletic?  
• Is Nivan a lumberjack or is she channelling Mick Foley?
• Why would Nivan give up her shot?  Makes no sense Toni
• Wow....I think Ohno has but on more weight.
• The ample midsection of Ohno
• This match has been brutal, Ohno looks like he is wrestling underwater.  He just walking around it is bad
• Mack is huge!  Look at that neck.  He looks like an action figure came to life
• Mack should be given the Bubba Rogers/Diesel bodyguard role.  Silent giant
• This music does not fit a babyface
• Why do most of these UK stars look like children
• I hate that jump off the top buckle and do a somersault thing that is done so often now.  I would love to see a guy like Sheamus just kick the persons head off as he stood up
• Look at Wolfe's chest
• Damn that Legsweep into a knee neckbreaker looked like it did break Dragunov's neck
•  That is just stupid.  Wolfe was obviously holding the chair
• This match is taking way too long and just illogical at times
• Dragunov selling of the hands is fantastic.  This match is taking way too long but the selling is good

The show really drug at the end for me.  These no DQ matches are just ridiculous when they do things like a chair to the throat and he keeps going.  Should not take 20+ minutes with kendo sticks, chairs, tables and other things.  I did like the Mastiff stuff and Ohno stuff with Big Dave.  However, the rest of the matches were just there for me.  Ohno looked bad and sluggish.  The tag match was an okay match.  Overall not a great show at all.  Hopefully, the shows pick up in the future!

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-02-08, I am checking out the 2020-01-01 Main Event.  No clue who is going to be on this show so lets get to the ring!

Chelsea Green debuting before then going down to NXT

MICKIE JAMES!  I was wondering where she was

Green looks so different with the dark hair after years with the blonde in Impact

Green should stay on the floor for a 9 count!

Also, Logan looks weird with the lighter hair

Saxton is SO bad, I hate him on commentary

Green needs different gear.  I am not sure what would be correct but what she has seems off

Green almost had a wardrobe malfunction

Unprettier!  I am shocked that Green got the win

Green also needs better music

No Way Jose is so underrated

Mojo seems like he is a LOT of fun, even hangs out with porn stars!

I have been on the East Coast most of them are really damn stupid!

I have grown to like both of these guys over the years

Neither guy is going to main event Wrestlemania but both have good matches and that is the point

Did Saxton just call it the Stun Gun?  Okay, maybe I am too hard on you!

Typical Main Event show but two decent matches.  The Women's match was sloppy at times but Logan and Green are not "veterans" as it were.  Mojo and No Way have fought so many times they are going to have good matches and they have good chemistry together.  Nothing special here.  Until next time....Abyssinia!

Classic Wrestling Review: 1994-01-18 ECW

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening....whenever you found this entry.  Today, 2020-02-08 I am checking out the 1994-01-18 ECW show.  I have no clue what is going on in ECW at this point as I did not follow ECW till near the end.  So lets go to the ring and find out what is going on!

• How amazing was Sherri, both in talent and looks
• It is weird they have Hawk in their promo/intro and WCW is using him to promote their merchandise catalogue
• A special 90-minute episode?  Nice
• Terry Funk is fantastic.  Think about it he shows up in SMW, ECW and WCW in 1994.  How great is that!
• I like that Terry is being positive about Shane, not yelling and screaming how he is going to beat him up.  Very real sports interview back in the day
• I would tweet a picture to Taz of him back in the day but I do not want him to come beat me up!
• Love Dreamers suspenders!
• Look at that young white meat babyface in Dreamer.  What happened to you Tommy?  Oh right ECW
• Those ropes look really loose
• Why is Sullivan not in the HOF?
• Even back when it was Eastern Championship Wrestling there were no rules?  THAT WAS A LOW BLOW!
• It is weird to see Nancy at ringside.  It will be weirder when I get to shows with Benoit on it I think
• I wonder what Taz thinks when he sees Tazmaniac matches
• Nice to see some wrestling on ECW as when I was watching it was more brawling

• Lost in this match, a good old school match that you just watch and enjoy!

• I miss Paul on commentary.  The fact that WWE is not using him is sad

• A second continuation?  Typical ECW Overbooking
• Are we going to see a time limit draw?  4 minutes left
• Sherri going right after Axl and he just stopped her!  GOOD GOD WHAT A HORRIBLE PERSON!

A good show minus the Jason segment.  They should have aired one of the match highlighted in that segment with Jason on commentary instead of what seeming took forever.  The main event was an excellent match and I lost track of how good it was.  If you like Terry Funk check this match out.  Until next time....Abysinia!

Movie Review: Jay and Silent Bob Reboot

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-02-29, I am checking out Kevin Smiths latest flick Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.  It currently has a 5.8 on IMDB with just over 10k votes.  Personally, I am excited about this and will probably give it a high rating because I love almost everything Kevin does.  I have seen him live and loved his act.  However, being the journalist that I am, I will be as unbias as Fox News is!

• I am so glad to see Dante!  Even if we do not see him again in the flick!
• Like a little bit of smoke is going to bother those Jay and Bob
• Haha, doing the Buffalo Bill thing again, I love callbacks!
• I love that Smith just uses all of the same actors over and over again

Sorry I got totally lost in this flick.  I absolutely loved this flick.  While it was not the best movie ver made but dear lord it was fun.  I love most of Smith's flicks and this did not disappoint.  What is great is that it had heart.  A lot of his flicks are just fun but this had some great moments like when Ben was talking and the talk at the end with Jay and Milly.  

Movie Review: Come to Daddy

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening...whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-02-09, I am checking out the recently released flick Come to Daddy.  It stars Elijah Wood, Stephen McHattie and Garfield Wilson.  Currently it has a 6.1 rating with just over 3100 votes.  "A man in his thirties travels to a remote cabin to reconnect with his estranged father."  It sounds interesting so let us get to the flick!

• You know a movie is going to be good when one of the first things you see is a Beyonce quote!
• Nice moustache Frodo!
• Well at this point, I would say good to see you, dad, we will meet up again in a long time, because you are obviously insane
• It is a hell of a good view
• Only 19 now sunshine
• Why would he sleep with is mom?
• Is he drinking that wine or making love to it?
• Blazing beats?  Really?
• So which one of these two are insane?
• Did his dad just chuck a giant rock at him?
• 35 years huh?  I do not know if I would even bother personally
• Stuff rats up your vagina?  What does that mean?  I mean it is obvious but really?
• Well this escalated quickly!
• Why did he call mom?  Why is he waiting for Friday?  WTF is going on?
• This is one weird-ass cop
• I wonder....do I have raisin eyes?
• WTF?  They are going to store the body at the house?  What kind of screwed up shit is this?
• Lots of eye talk in this movie
• No way that dead body would be in a house I was staying, nope no way
• I think this is all a drunk hallucination and he killed his dad
• My wife just guessed he has people in the basement.  That they are beating on the pipes and that is who he was yelling at.  Could be!
• Was he just sleeping with his dead dad?!  
• Well this once again escalated quickly!
• What in the blue hell is going on?  
• Poop pen...ha ha
• I do not trust this guy at all, dad or not
• There is just some random guy pooping...and now beating up Frodo with no pants on
• OH MY GOD RIGHT IN THE MAN PARTS!!
• A flaming crossbow?
• This is some violent shit!

That was a movie that is for sure.  I am not sure what to say about it.  I give it a 5/10.  Below my usual rating I know but it was weird.  There were so many random things that just did not make sense.  It was also violent in a weird way as well.

Overall I would not suggest this flick unfortunately.  I liked everything but something seemed missing in it and I cannot say what.  Not a bad flick but not something I would recommend.
