2020-10-22 NXT UK

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening.....whenever it is you have found this entry.  Today, 2020-10-24, I am checking out the latest edition of NXT UK.  With everything going on I have not kept up with the show but wrestling is wrestling so I think it is time to find out what is going on across the pond!
  • It has been a while since I checked out NXT UK....and I still hate the theme song!
  • There is something about Eddie Dennis that bothers me, I think it is the body.  It just does not look right
  • Yeah I do not see Carter winning this match
  • That was a hell of a slap by Dennis
  • Dennis also has a horrible haircut and I know about horrible haircuts
  • 1 dive, I think I shall keep count
  • What was that?  A weird bodyslam?
  • 1 superkick
  • Nigel is a great announcer, he does the hype so well but is so informative
  • I like that WWE has started to us female refs for female matches
  • That was an ugly tackle and that is good because it felt real
  • Really slow cover by Amale there
  • I got slightly distracted during the match hopefully I did not miss a dive or superkick
  • uggg, I do not like Nina's character.  Did not work for Aiden English probably will not work for her either
  • Trent is looking much older and I like it
  • This will be weird for me with the rounds and such.  I remember some shows in the US, maybe AAW, back in the early 90's did it and it was weird
  • Did Williams just pull Seven up?
  • A lot of lanky guys on NXT UK
  • That DDT should have ended it
  • That was odd because when do people hit the ropes like Seven did there?
  • 2 Superkick
  • A contract signing I wonder if they will fight
  • It is weird that the Russian is the good guy!
  • JESUS WHAT A SLAP!
  • And there is the brawl
A decent show with a really good main event!  Eddie is decent and it was a good build up for next week with Webb and Andrews.  Im interested in knowing where that goes.  WALTER and Ilja will be a hard hitting match for sure.  Honestly the only thing that I found subpar was the womens match.  I will continue to watch when I have time and it was a good show.

RESULTS
  • Eddie Dennis def. Oliver Carter
  • Segment:  Eddie Dennis
  • Video:  Joey Coffey
  • Nina Samuels def. Amale
  • Interview:  Nina Samuels
  • Trent Seven def. Kenny Williams in a Heritage Cup Tournament Match 2 falls to 1
  • Contract Signing: WALTER (NXT UK Champion) & Ilja Dragunov

11-07-12 NXT Review/recap

Yeah I am a little late on this but here we go, a recap of NXT!

Kassius Ohno, the former Chris Hero, taking on Trent Baretta.  Strangely Matt Striker is the ring announcer.  Baretta is a guy who will never get a change in WWE most likely.  He isn't big enough and doesn't have that "it" factor.  He might get a tag team or at best a IC/US shot.  Ohno just used the apron skirt to cover Baretta's face and take control.  It is great to hear William Regal as an announcer.  He brings such knowledge to the announce booth, much like Taz does in TNA.  Ohno should be on the main roster at this point.  He has a nice beard too!  Baretta is having a good showing and has that never say die attitude, which is a decent angle if they ever want to use it, but Ohno could be a start given the chance and right angle.  Baretta just did the horrible missile dropkick where he lands on his back, I hate it because it is basically taking a superplex.  Ohno hits a Roaring Elbow for the win.  He is going to need a better finisher however.  Hell Baretta is already back on his feet and knocks Ohno out of the ring before a further beating.  NXT creative needs a better finisher for him and he could be a star!

We get a promo of a tattooed up star talking about how each tat has a story.  He has Stay Down on his fingers and Graves is shown at the end.

Big E Langston is next.  This man is money!    Memo Montenegro is the victim of the 5 count tonight.  The 5 count is over with the NXT crowd but it is the same crowd every week.  i don't know if it would be over in a new town each week.  That is the problem with NXT and TNA both.  The same crowd end up coming each week.  He also could use a slightly better finisher.  He puts his man up for a Running Powerslam but instead just slams him straight down, face first.  He should either do a running powerslam or Ron Simmons Dominator.  I actually like the Dominator idea.  The fans are chanting one more time.  He has already hit two.  Great here is Vicki Guerrero and she has put out a $5000 dollar bounty out on Big E's head.  I wouldn't try to collect that!  More one more time chants and Big E is going to do it.  Chad Baxtor is his name and Big E destroys him.

Next up is Jason Jordan taking on....the Former Husky Harris comes out and starts talking about walking up and having wings and for people to start seeing the lie they are living.  Okay.  I'm confused.  Jordan challenges Bray Wyatt and he is a monster and never alone.  Out comes some guy that looks like Necro Butcher, he isn't but reminds me of him in look and dress.  They call Jordan a Third Generation Star.  Wow faux Necro just killed Jordan with a lariat.  He hits the Bossman Slam for the win.  Lots of nice beards in NXT!  This is Luke Harper, the first son of the Wyatt of the Family.  Interesting.

Roman Reigns comes out and we get a promo from him.  Okay, the just is everyone wants to be Roman Reigns.

Next we have Jinder Mahal, Bo Dallas, Justin Gabriel and Drew McIntyre in a number one contenders match.  Bo of course is IRS's son, and this is going to be elimination style!  I dig that.  I wish WWE did more elimination style multiman matches.  Bo should be the victor as the others are already on the main roster.  For the record I don't like these multiman matches.  It is always two guys fighting while the others sit around.  Dallas pins Drew with a spear and caught Justin with a spear from a springboard and then it is Bo and Jinder.  I like that Bo is wearing the old Blackjack black glove, his grandfather is Blackjack Mulligan after all.  Jinder is much better on NXT then any match on WWE TV.  Sadly he has the stupid gimmick of the 3 Man Band now.  Jinder locks in the Camel Clutch and gets the submission which brings in the NXT Champ Seth Rollins, the former Tyler Black in ROH.  These two face off next week.  I don't agree with the booking but I guess they feel they are building up Rollins by having him beat main roster guys.  Interesting.

That is it folks.  Until the next time this is the Fat Man saying Abyssinia!

NXT for 10-31-12 Review

To continue with my wrestling goodness I will review what is usually the best show of the week, the former FCW, NXT!

There are a lot of good talent down in NXT right now.  Michael McGillicutty has really good matches as does Richie Steamboat, Ricky Steamboat's son, Seth Rollins and others.  If you want really good wrestling and great announcing usually check it out.

We start off with the Usos, I have a feeling of dejavu for some reason.  They are taking on the team of Michael McGillicutty and Johnny Curtis.  I like both of them but Curtis is doing some really weird dancing as he is coming out.  William Regal is announcing...and that is a good thing!  The fans love the Usos and they also love the "CHA" sound that McGillicutty does often in the ring.  Wow McGillicutty just threw a Mr. Perfect dropkick.  So far I like this team quite a bit but that also might be because I don't like the Usos.  I will say the Usos always have a lot of energy though and it is sorta contagious but I still hate the yelling of "US".  Game over and the Usos win with the Headshrinker dive.

Next we have Xavier Woods, formerly Consequences Creed of TNA, taking on Leo Kruger.  Xavier and R-Truth would make a great team, both full of energy and that dancing Eddie from Tekken type wrestler.  Kruger is doing a big game hunter gimmick that has a little of the old Mankind I hurt myself to feel something as well and is an okay wrestler.  Wow the announcer with Regal just used Ruthless Aggression, haven't heard that in years!  Nothing big here as Kruger gets a win with a modified faceslam out of a neckbreaker position.  He is an interesting character but I think they are missing the boat on Xavier.

They do a video on Big E Langston who is doing the old King Kong Bundy gimmick of wanting a 5 count.  We then get an interview where Byron Saxton talks to Langston.  Not a great interview, they should just have him beat people up.  This interview is about the number 5.  GOOD GRIEF IT IS VICKI GUERRERO!  She is recruiting and after proudly admitting she is a cougar says they can make each other very happy.  Langston does a weird clap thing and powder comes out, could have done with out that whole thing.

Next up is Jindar Mahal, who was defeated in the finals of the NXT title tournament a few months ago, losing to Seth Rollins.  This is already better than the Three Man Bad interview on Raw as he demands a rematch for the title but instead we get Justin Gabriel.  Nice to see the guys who don't get a chance on WWE TV get action here but it should be about the up and comers in my opinion.  Fans want to see Seth and Justin and here comes Drew McIntyre, who has beat Seth.  Now out comes Bo Dallas, son of WWE Legend IRS.   Finally the Son of a Plumber Dusty Rhodes comes out.  Wow the Big Dream has lost quite a bit of weight which is good.  Next week we get a Four way which was a shocker of an announcement.

Time for CJ Parker taking on Roman Reigns.  This is Reigns debut so the finish isn't in doubt.  Reigns is the former Leakee in FCW and son of WWE Hall of Famer Sika.  He is a former football player as well.  He could be a star given the right chances.  CJ got in a little offense but in the end Reigns hit back suplex into a Rock Bottom type move.  I've seen the move before but not sure what to call it.  I'll call it the Reign of Terror for now.

Main event time for the US Title.  Tyson Kidd taking on Antonio Cesaro.  JR joins William Regal for what I think is the best announce team around right now!  They need better music for Antonio, something that fits his persona.  Lance Storm gets a shout out from William Regal about training Kidd.  Lots of power moves by Cesaro only for Kidd to counter.  These guys always have good matches.  Kidd really should be used better but he is just a bit too small I think and lacks that "it" factor.  Kidd is getting in a ton of offense and high flying moves.  He gets better every time I see him and the fans are behind him.  I love the big flapjack European uppercut move which sets up the Neutralizer and Cesaro retains the title.  That is it for NXT this week.

Thoughts:

All good stuff, well minus the Big E interview.  Easily the best show of this week unless ROH can pull out a kick ass show.

If you want great wrestling and logic NXT does it every week.

One guy I am surprised we don't see down in NXT is Ted DiBiase.  They are really missing the boat with this guy.

Until next time, This is the Fat Man signing off.
