I want to be a Monster Hunter!

If you've read my blog in the past you know that my dream job is to be a ghost hunter.  I am not joking so stop laughing!  Since I saw The Conjuring a few years ago I've wanted to be do it. Watching the show "Ghost Asylum" makes me want to do it more.  I really should just do it but I have no idea how to start.  Or is it I just want to be a TV star.  Perhaps both.






I do think I'd be quite entertaining on these ghost hunting shows.  Especially if something happens, I'd be like Jonah Hill in "Accepted".

No seriously I'd be like that.  I want to believe in ghosts I just don't quite because I haven't seen one or had an encounter.  I have friends who say they have but I'll only truly believe it if I can see it/experience it myself.  

I also want to see the freaky shit though.  I don't just to want to take pictures and see orbs and have the temperature drop and be start yelling about a ghost.  I want to hear noises.  I want to see faces.  I want stuff moved.  

Wait...I think I want to experience a demon!  I love the Paranormal Activity movies and I have often joked that Katie and her demon and I could have a wonderful life together.  Mostly because I found the actress who played her to be extremely attractive and having a demon throw my keys around and stuff would be a great trick for parties!  Seriously I think we could make it work the three of us, call me Katie!

Okay enough of that (seriously Katie call me) but I do want to be a ghostbuster.  Growing up I realized I couldn't be a Transformer or a Care Bear, what....I loved the Care Bears growing up....don't judge me judgey...but maybe I could be a ghostbuster!  I don't have the goofy hair of Egon or the horrible skin of Peter so that leaves Ray.  I am husky and funny.  What did you expect me to say I'd fill the Winston role?  However I do think being a ghostbuster would be cool.  Yes I realize there aren't really proton packs (yet) or cool PKE meters (but you could build one out of the K2 meter) but to hunt ghosts and make them leave people would be awesome.  Also I think I'd look hot in one of those jump suits...although brown wouldn't be ideal for my body type.  I think I'd go with red or purple.  Yes purple, a regal color for a regal man!

Back to Ghost Asylum, this is an interesting show because they want to help the ghost leave a specific place by building these goofy....I mean cool "traps".  Thus far they haven't caught one that I've remembered.  However they have had a few cool experiences if you believe they aren't staged.  

If I can't be a ghostbuster I want to be a monster hunter in general.  Bigfoot, hell hounds, lizard people, I want to hunt them all!  Actually I guess a monster hunter would be better because I could go after all that AND ghosts.  Yes...a monster hunter.

Gene the Monster Hunter.  All I need are some goofy eccentric companions, a few wack-jobs...I mean eye witnesses and cameraman or two to follow me around.  I think this could work out well.

Cass County Black-Furrred Beast posted 9-09

It was the fall of 2001, late fall. All the leaves were gone. My stepdaughter and I were looking out the french doors to see a creature....black in color, like a big bear with haunches and the head of a wolf. It was walking up the hill behind my house. It was on all fours and walked like a panther...stalking. I had never seen anything like it in my life. The only word that describes it is werewolf. Now at night periodically....I can hear something in the 20 acre plus swamp in the middle of the night. Very loud and splashing around. It has the scream of an infant...Loud and hysterical. I live in a very rural and secluded area in Southwest Michigan...Cass County.

For those of you who don't know I lived right outside of Cass County for years!  If I can find out where this is I'm going hunting!  Sadly I can't find anything more about this on a quick search.  I don't know of any swampy area but it is a lot of "farm" land out there.  

Okay enough of my ramblings, I think I'll turn on some Ancient Aliens and day dream of some alien encounters as well.  I just want something exciting to happen to me....and to become a TV star!

Black Widow is such a slut!

A friend recently asked why I don’t do a blog.  I responded that I used to but had stopped but didn’t expand on it.  The reason I stopped was because I was afraid I was offending people with what I was saying.  I am harsh rude and crude at times and I was afraid I’d hurt someones feelings.  It was a moment of weakness I won’t have again.  I lost my way and tried to be less “Gene” like and more “PC”.  I am not PC, as I said a few years ago, I am a dinosaur who refuses to evolve.  I will die a dinosaur.

The reason I am writing this blog is because I like to do it.  I like to write and get my ideas and opinions out there.  I liked the sound of my own voice...so to speak...and I might even start podcasting again.

Okay today I am going to talk about the Avengers, sort of but not really.  The Avengers is what prompted this story….well not really.  This great article but a friend of mine did.    

I have come to realize that I look at the world differently than most people.  Perhaps I don’t have the rose colored glasses others do or perhaps the problem is that I do!  I don’t try to put a statement on everything that is done.  The perfect example is Black Widows “treatment” in Age of Ultron.  This article is well written but I think is missing the point of a lot of what is done in the flick.  

Also I don’t believe that Natasha was actually tending bar in the one scene but making a drink for her and Banner as I don’t remember seeing her making drinks in the other scenes during the party but what do I know, I was there to see an enjoyable movie about not real things not pick it apart to further my own agenda!

Sorry about that, that “real” Gene come out for a second.  If you haven’t watched Age of Ultron yet do not read on as I will be talking about things in flick.  The big idea in this flick is that all of the Avengers are attacked on a personal level by the Scarlet Witch (played by the lovely and extremely talented Elizabeth Olsen).  Each member of the team see something that shakes them to their core, be it a possible future or the past or what they fear most or...well you get the idea.  Widow is reminded of her past.

Before this is happens we also see a budding romance between Natasha and Banner.  Natasha has the ability to bring Banner back when he has “Hulked Up (Brother)”.  We also know that it was Natasha who has spent the most time with Banner (on screen character wise).  

Okay before I get to what happens next with Natasha lets look at her character so far.  She is a deadly assassin who answers the phone while being tortured, faced the Hulk with little fear, is willing to use her feminine charms when needed, has a bad past, has had her moments with Captain America, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner and seemingly has/had a relationship with Hawkeye.  I am not sure what could be done more to make her a stronger character.  Oh lets not forget she tricked the trickster god into telling her his plan.  Pretty weak characteristics to me!

Back to our new story.  We find out that during Natashas training she was forced to become sterile and, here is what a lot of people hate, she uses the line “You’re not the only monster on the team.”  Yep, that makes Joss Whedon a sexist.  

Or you’re missing the point and forcing that line to fit your own narrative!  Of course I could be doing the same thing here, only one person knows and that is Joss.  I took it to mean many things.  She is a monster for what she allowed to be done to herself.  She is a monster for what she has done to others.  She is monster because she does what has to be done including allowing herself to be mutilated.  I never thought it meant she was a monster because she can’t have kids in the way some took it.  She is a monster so she can’t have kids, do you see the difference.  They explain that they sterilize the women so they won’t have the distraction of children.  This scene takes place after we’ve seen how much Hawkeye’s (Yes he has a family) kids love her and how good she is with them.  

Throughout the entire film the idea of our heroes being monsters (perhaps to stop the monsters) is brought up.  Banner especially is aware of this and that is what Natasha, in my opinion, falls in love with.  The fact that Banner feels about himself (the monster) that she feels about herself (the monster).  It is about two people who can’t find love because of what they think they are  finding love because of what they are, human.  

At no point did I feel Natasha was playing the damsel in distress for the sake of it.  In the first Avengers film it was Hawkeye who had to be saved by Widow.  This time it was Widow being saved by Banner.  To further the love story and because it made sense!  Just like it did for her to save Hawkeye last time.  Or to save Cap in Winters Soldier or the various other times she has saved people.  

I look at this “controversy” as manufactured by people looking for something to bitch about.  It is like people getting mad at Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner joking about Widow being the “slut” of the Avengers.  They are laughing as they say it for one and two it is kind of true.  She is the one character that has been in all of their lives because she is the one S.H.I.E.L.D agent so Fury sends her.  She uses her skills, whichever are needed to get the job done.  Sorta seducing Stark, playing on Caps values and whatever else is needed.  Again that doesn’t make her a bad character it makes her a well written smart character.  

I wish this was about the movie.  About how the writing felt forced at times and that the characters were almost caricatures of themselves.  The fact that this felt more like a holding midseason episode of your favorite TV show instead of the end of Phase 2 and moving into Phase 3.  No instead it is talking about how much of a sexiest pig Whedon is.  I mean did you see that show of his Buffy, what a pig!  

Could Black Widow have been written better?  Of course she could have!  You also need to realize you had ten “main characters” and that doesn’t include Fury, Hill, War-Machine or Falcon.  This movie did more to make Widow seem human and maybe that is what people are upset about.  They didn’t want her to be a character, just a kick ass chick in leather.  

I will be honest, as much screen time as she has had throughout the Marvel movies I never wanted a Black Widow flick.  Why?  I knew little about her, she was just what I said before, a kick ass chick in leather.  We’ve got other movies for that.  However now I kind of do.  Delve a little more into her past.  A little more with Hawkeye and her “debt” she owes him.  Also a great way to further the Hulk/Widow storyline would be her hunting for her true love.  It doesn’t always have to be the guy chasing the girl does it?  Oh wait that makes me sexiest to think that a girl would need a guy doesn’t it?

There is one other option, one that hasn’t be thought of yet.  Here goes.  It was a fucking superhero movie and none of what has been said was thought of.  It was written to entertain people not to make a political statements!

Black Friday, Red Thursday and other days that will get colors

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, when ever it is that you're reading me!  I want to talk about Black Friday, well actually the day before.  You know the day that is for all American's to be gluttons and eat and eat and eat.  Hey I'm not complaining mind you because I love food.

However I'm not here today to make fun of Americans or our crazy fancy holidays.  Nope, I am here to make fun of Americans and how we can't ever be happy.

Okay happy is the right word.  For the last couple of years we've had more and more stores start to open up Thanksgiving night or all day Thanksgiving even.  This has caused an outrage...if you're company is named Wal-Mart...for the most part.  These people need to be at home with their families watching the football game (never mind the players aren't with their families...I've never heard any outcry for them, or the officials, or the TV crews, camera men, cheerleaders, production people, truck people, security guards at the game....you get my drift).

And I know why people aren't upset about the Lions players, they are making a lot of money, so it is okay.  But that cashier at Wal-Mart....Wal-Mart is evil!  Well when I'm not there taking advantage of their fabulous deals that is!

I've was lucky that the bookstore that shall not be named that I worked for wasn't open on Thanksgiving, however I would have no problem working it.  Do you know why?  Right on the application it asks about holidays and weekends.  These people knew that they *MIGHT* have to work on say Thanksgiving or The Fourth or Easter or Flag Day or Pioneer's Day or whatever made up holiday it is. 

Does it suck?  Perhaps for some people who truly want to be with their families, however they aren't working 12-15 hour days.  They will still get to spend time with their families just not all day.

I've also seen people talk about how the CEO's and the higher ups won't have to work that day.  You are correct.  They also don't have to work weekends while others do.  That argument seems flawed to me somehow.....

Should these people have to work on a holiday...yes...if the public demands it...and guess what boys and girls...they do.  Oh boy do they ever.

I work for a movie theater chain now and guess what one of the biggest days of the year is?  Christmas.  So guess what that means?  Some poor souls have to work the ticket booth and concession stand and sweep up after your snot nosed brats and start the movies and all that. 

They are open because there is a demand for it.  You bet the CEO's are greedy and want money, that is their job.  Companies could ignore Black Friday, and be closed on Sunday's for religious reasons.  Of course that means that the consumers will go else where those day...and possibly other days as well. 

We as consumers have 100's of choices so companies need to do whatever they can to get us to come into their establishments.  If that means being open on Thanksgiving then they will. 

While I've never been shopping on Thanksgiving I have gone out to eat and have gone to the movies.  I have also worked those days at the University who shall not be named because people needed me.  My customers needed me so I helped them.  That includes all holidays.  Christmas day while I was working at the University I was answering tickets because people were studying and needed help.  No one asked me or expected me to do it.  I did it because that is what my customers needed.

Same with these business.  Do you think Walgreens would be open if they didn't make enough money to make it worth their wild?  Of course not.  It isn't the companies who are at fault...its us...the consumers.  We are quick to make blame, but we are sending it in the wrong direction.

Put a sheet on that or the costumes that killed Halloween

For those who don't get the title of this entry it is in reference to E.T.  They re-released E.T. but put digital sheets on the characters when they go out on Halloween because they go as terrorist and we can't have that.

I've talked about it before and I feel like I am most likely repeating myself here but I am going to do it anyway.

The problem is that we, as a country, focus our energies on things that don't matter, yet we leave those that do alone.

Halloween is the perfect example.  I won't rant and rave on the amount of time people put into their costumes yet couldn't tell you who was running in the election Tuesday.  I won't talk about the irony of telling our children not to talk to strangers and then parade them all over town asking and taking food from said strangers.  No I am going to talk about the outrage 3 costumes have caused.

No it wasn't because a bunch of girls were parading around basically naked, although that is basically what the "holiday" has become right?  An excuse for women to dress as skimpy as possible and then wonder why some men see them as only objects....but not the point here.

The outrage came because of three young ladies, I say young ladies because they are over 18, because of their costumes.  One, in the states...from Michigan, dressed as Boston Marathon Bombing Victim while two over in England went as the Twin Towers (not of the Lord of the Rings fame).

The image above is her picture.  No where does it say Boston or anything like that.  If I saw this with no context I'd assume it was a zombie costume.  Throw a little blood on your and you're a zombie right?  Zombies would eat someone in a marathon/race.  I assume, and I am not going to go look it up, that she said she was the victim.  Okay so she was slightly, or more than slightly perhaps, insensitive.  However we've seen costumes of priest with little boys and those were okay?  Or terrorists?  Or the rubber masks of various killers and murderers? 

Here is what pisses me off about the whole situation, not that she did it but our reaction.  She received threats to be raped and death threats.  She was fired from her job.  Really?  This deserved that kind of reaction?  People we have people starving to death everyday!  We have people who aren't allowed to be themselves and be married to the person they love because they both happen to be the same sex.  We have people shooting other people almost daily.  We have companies and religious groups boycotting funerals and people because of their beliefs.  Yet this woman throw a little fake blood on her along with a number and we are ready to string her up!  If you want to see some info on her her twitter account is @SomeSKANKinMI.  Yeah not the best name and her background is from a certain "casting couch" website....or so I've been told he he!  She has nearly topless photos on her twitter as well.  I bring this up because it leads me to something else (yes this is a stream of consciousness boys and girls, no real thought ahead of time). 

This young lady is us.  This young lady is America.  This young lady is what our future.  Now before I go on I am not picking on Alicia, that is her name according to twitter.  She is basically a what most 22 year olds are...can we really hate her for what we as a society seem to revel in?  We follow the train wrecks that are young celebrities like Miley Cyrus or Amanda Bynes yet seem confused when a young lady like Alicia does something like wear a costume.  

We are lost boys and girls.  As a country, as a society and as a race.  And before you go thinking that I am going to go all religious saying we need God back you'd be wrong there.  I don't have an answer to be honest.  If I did I wouldn't be writing this blog I'd be doing something important with my life like going on Dr. Phil or becoming the next Dr. Phil.  Yes that was another shot at us as a people.

The other costume I wanted to bring up was that of two young ladies who went as the Twin Towers.

They won some contest.  Honestly my biggest problem is that their costume suck!  Seriously look at them!  Did they steal some cardboard from a homeless guy?  Seriously that is my biggest problem with this.  Nothing good about this, creative or anything.  If you're going to do this do it right and make them the correct color at least!  

Look at these two, they are exactly what I was talking about moments ago.  They are us people!  They are the reflection of us.  Don't like what you see?  Then change it boys and girls.  Going to twitter and facebook and making death threats is not going to change it.  

In conclusion my response to these costumes is who cares.  They did nothing but make people feel bad...which actually might be a crime anymore.  In a world where bullying is brought up for every little thing what about bullying of these young ladies and the threats?  Hypocrites isn't just a river in Egypt...oh wait...

Really? REALLY?!?!

Hello folks and I am back for at least today with a blog entry full of my thoughts on some of the stories out there in the news recently:

• In Texas at least one parent is accusing a football team of being bullies.  These damn jocks were bullying his nerdy kid.  They were giving him wet willies and nuggies and swirlies....wait what?  That wasn't the case?  It was because a football team beat your football team 91-0?  Well shut up and stop being a pussy.  That is not bullying.  I've always said if I can beat a team by 100 points I would and if a team can beat me by 100 points they should.  It is about playing the best you can and feelings be damned.  
• This brings me to a brief rant on bullying.  When did it become that everything that is done to anyone is bullying?  People are bullying people....to death.  I'm sorry but I don't buy it.  The bullying didn't cause someone to kill themselves.  Did it contribute to it...you bet!  Is it wrong....no doubt.  But bullying has been around since the beginning of time and it will be till the end of time.  You can't stop it, its like emptying the sea with a spoon.  Can you try to stop it, of course.  But charging kids, yes kids, with murder because they bullied someone and said they should kill themselves is wrong.  How many times have you said "I could just kill you for that." or "do that one more time and I'll kill you."  Does that mean you actually want them dead?  And even if you did when is that illegal?  There are a lot of people that I wouldn't mind seeing dead can I be held responsible for it?  This is not a popular opinion but quite frankly I don't care.  Bullying isn't the issue it is the fact that we are continually weakening our children mentally.  We have made a generation of babies.  He yelled at me it is hostile.  They beat me and it made me feel bad.  Well you should feel bad if you're beat because they are better then you are.  Why did he yell at me...oh because I'm not doing what I'm suppose to be doing.  We are a bunch of pussies anymore and it drives me crazy.
• Two years ago when all the Occupy Wallstreet stuff was going on, and that had some staying power huh....some security guard pepper sprayed a bunch of protesters. Well he got 38k in workmans comp because of his mental anguish from death threats.  People are upset about this.  I don't know why they are upset.  If he could prove that that is what workmans comp is for.  It isn't if you agree with the things he did.  Also for the record I don't disagree with what he did if they were told they were on private property and that they needed to leave.  
• When will this country do something about the gun violence in this country.  A middle school shooting...really?  Fuck me.
• On CNN they have an article on if taking a kid to Sea World is a good thing or not.  Why?  Because it could teach kids that humans dominate animals.  Really?  REALLY!  FUCK YOU!  I hate shit like this. 
• This goes to my bullying stuff.  Enough people.  Let the kids be kids.  Let them pick on each other.  Let them go to zoos and water parks and play dodgeball and cops and robbers and fall down and hurt themselves.
